Jessica Leigh Winders and Charles Jason Rouse exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 12 at 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Richard Glosson and the Rev. Drew Clarke officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Sheriff Cary and Teresa Winders of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Velma Sullivan and the late Brooks Sullivan of Kenly and the late Aaron and Ernestine Winders of Fremont.

She is a 2003 honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2009 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She is employed as a fourth-grade teacher at Brogden Primary School.

The groom is the son of Fella and Lydia Rouse of Moss Hill and the grandson of the late E. Willard Rouse Sr. and Ann H. Rouse of Moss Hill and the late Charlie Jenkins and Ollie Sugg Jenkins of LaGrange.

He is a 2000 graduate of South Lenoir High School and a 2008 graduate of Lenoir Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in business. He is employed by Sentry Insurance as a claims adjuster.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a formal strapless ivory gown with a sweetheart neckline and a peaked empire waistline trimmed with crystals, beads and lace throughout. The A-line gown flowed into a modified chapel-length train with a scalloped hemline. She also wore her maternal grandmother’s dinner ring.

Her headpiece was an ivory fingertip veil trimmed with lace and crystals.

The bride carried a bouquet of purple hydrangeas, ivory roses, lavender cymbidium orchids, purple caspia, ivory spray roses and ruscus handtied in ivory ribbon with the bride’s baby Bible tied to the bouquet.

Ashley and Carianne Winders were their sister’s maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Melissa Sullivan of Raleigh, Crystal Horton of Missouri and Natalie Gardner of Pikeville, cousins of the bride, and Mary-Emma Daniels of Winterville and Hannah Lee of Raleigh, friends of the couple.

Fella Rouse, father of the groom, and Jody Rouse, brother of the groom, were best men.

Groomsmen were Austin Eubanks of LaGrange, Shawn Jones of Winterville, Kemp Koonce of Kinston, Parker King of Kenly and Travis Sparks of Goldsboro, friends of the couple.

Kaylee Price of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.

Macey Cuddington, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Eli Winders, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.

Phyllis Patterson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Emily Pittman, cousin of the bride. Jada Howell, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. Jeremy Thompson, pianist and organist, and Jay Sauls, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Lane Tree Golf Club. Sheila Warrick was director. Randy and Gail Pittman and Freddie and Judy Harrison greeted guests. Wanda Starling and Debbie Sullivan served the wedding cake.

After their wedding trip to the western Caribbean, the couple will reside in Moss Hill.

Events held before the wedding included a barbecue March 20 hosted by the groom’s family; a miscellaneous wedding shower April 18 at Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church hosed by friends and family; a miscellaneous wedding shower April 24 at the Lassiter home hosted by Cathy Marlow and Dawn Lassiter; a miscellaneous wedding shower April 25 at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church hosted by family and friends; a bachelorette weekend April 30 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosed by Ashley Winders; a bachelor weekend April 30 in Charlotte hosted by Jody Rouse; a bridal brunch May 14 at the home of Debbie Sullivan, aunt of the bride; a lingerie shower May 21 at the home of Wanda Starling, cousin of the bride; a miscellaneous wedding shower May 19 hosted by c-workers of the bride at Brogden Primary School; and a bridal event May 24 at the home of Wendy Hooks.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Steak Barn.
