Mrs. Edmonson

Catherine Crawley Parker of New York, N.Y., and Chad Friddle Edmonson of New York, N.Y., exchanged vows in a single-ring ceremony June 5 at 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Andrew Ross Clark and Dr. David Bruce Jenkins officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Canady Parker of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Mrs. Francis Ogden Parker Sr., the late Mr. Parker and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Alston Mitchell of Goldsboro.

She is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and graduated cum laude from Salem College in Winston-Salem with a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history and a minor in French. She also earned a Master of Arts degree in contemporary art from Sotheby’s Institute in London, England.

She was presented by the Terpsichorean Club in Raleigh at the 2000 North Carolina Debutante Ball, where she was an assistant leader.

She is employed in New York, N.Y., as an account manager in the Estates, Appraisals and Valuations Department at Christie’s.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Lee Edmonson II of Hattiesburg, Miss., and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. Lee Edmonson Sr., Mrs. Jack Curtis Johnson and the late Mr. Johnson of Hattiesburg.

He is a graduate of the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics as a Joseph Wharton Scholar from the Wharton School and as a Benjamin Franklin Scholar with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American history from the College of Arts and Sciences. He is employed in New York, N.Y., as a director in the Investment Department at W.P. Carey and Co.

The bride was escorted by her father and was given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a gown of candlelight satin with a piped, off-the-shoulder bodice and a pleated ballgown skirt.

Her veil was a cathedral-length, Brussels lace mantilla.

The bride carried a bouquet of magnolia, Virginia roses and stephanotis wrapped with lace from her mother’s wedding gown.

Robin Sutton Anders of Greensboro was matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Claire Baird Broadaway of Charlotte, Morgan Gentry Lasater of Burlington, Eleanor Spicer Rice of Raleigh, Meredith Blythe Smith of Richmond, Va., Carolyn Elizabeth Wilkins of Wilmington and Claire Elizabeth Yearwood of Fairhope, Ala.

R. Lee Edmonson II was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were R. Lee Edmonson III of Johannesburg, South Africa, brother of the groom; Wylie Fort Parker II of New York, N.Y., brother of the bride; and Seth Mason Bressack, Andrew Martin Erdlen, Jesse Evan Laudon and Ryan Steven Scallon of New York, N.Y.

Georgia Louise Gurley was flower girl.

Isabelle Williams Doss directed the wedding.

Elizabeth Dennis Barton and the Rev. and Mrs. Tullos Luke Jones were readers.

A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. Jeremy Thompson, organist, and Timothy Hudson, trumpeter.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Walnut Creek Country Club.

After a wedding trip to Mexico, the couple will reside in New York, N.Y.

Events held before the wedding included a wedding day brunch at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wes Seegars hosted by family and friends; a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the home of Susan Stackhouse hosted by Mrs. Stackhouse, Brownie Doss, Kathryn Spicer, Lucy Warren and Candy Whitley; a groomsmen’s lunch and skeet shooting party at the Stackhouse cabin hosted by Wilson Stackhouse and Jim Parker; an after-rehearsal party at the home of Sharon Crawford hosted by family and friends; a reception at Dixie Baptist Church in Hattiesburg where guests donated to The Homes of Hope for Children in the couple’s honor; an engagement party at Merc Bar in New York, N.Y., hosted by Fort Parker; and an engagement party at the home of the bride hosted by friends and neighbors.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner June 4 at Walnut Creek Country Club.
