MOUNT OLIVE — Jessica Renee Matthews and Brandon Wesley Cashwell of Calypso exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Nov. 28 at 3 p.m. at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with pastor Doug Bartlett officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Richard Laray and Cynthia Callie Matthews of Suttontown and the granddaughter of Shirlene Matthews and the late Richard Burld Matthews of Autryville and Mrs. Shelby Best and the late Mr. Best of Suttontown.

She is a 2002 graduate of Hobbton High School and a 2006 graduate of Pitt Community College with an associate degree in occupational therapy. She is employed as an occupational therapy assistant at Mount Olive Care and Rehab.

The groom is the son of Carlton Peggie Cashwell of Calypso and the grandson of Ruby Wells of Beautancus, the late J.R. Cashwell of Calypso and Kenneth and Evelyn Warren of Faison.

He is a 1995 graduate of North Duplin High School and a graduate of Beaufort Community College with an associate degree in applied science. He is employed as senior system integrity technician at Piedmont Natural Gas.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father.

She wore an ivory charmeuse gown with an A-line silhouette that accentuated the natural waistline. The bodice was a draped empire bodice with a one-shoulder neckline adorned with two Swarovski crystal-encrusted brooches at the neckline and on the back attached to a sash that flowed with the sweep of the train.

Her headpiece was a tiara of rhinestones that extended into a two-tiered veil of silk illusion with flower rhinestones and rhinestones on the edge.

The bride carried a bouquet of red roses.

Callie Jeannine Matthews of Wilmington was her sister’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Amanda Pate of Giddensville and Jeanna Byrum of Greenville, friends of the bride, and Regina Lewis of Miami, cousin of the bride.

Carlton Cashwell was best man.

Groomsmen were Mike Lewis, John Davis and Steve Thigpen of Calypso, friends of the groom.

Ushers were Mike Lewis, John Davis and Steve Thigpen.

Jennifer Matthews and Brenda Tyndall, aunts of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Mr. and Mrs. Tim Lewis, uncle and aunt of the bride . Garrison and Grant Matthews, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Kevin Mooring of Pikeville, pianist; and Amy Mooring of Pikeville, vocalist; Graham Byrum, friend of the bride, guitarist; and Terri Williams, trumpeter.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church fellowship hall. The couple’s parents greeted guests.

Following their wedding trip to New Orleans, La., the couple will reside in Calypso.

Events held before the wedding included a floating miscellaneous shower Sept. 19 at Goshen Pentecostal Holiness Church hosted by the bride’s family and friends; a a floating miscellaneous shower Sept. 27 at Faison United Methodist Church hosted by family and friends of the groom; a miscellaneous shower Oct. 11 at Calypso Fire Department hosted by the groom’s fire department and friends; a bachelorette/lingerie shower the weekend of Oct. 16 in Wilmington hosted by the bride’s sister; a bachelor party Nov. 7 in Raleigh hosted by the groom’s groomsmen; a pantry shower Nov. 10 at Mount Olive Park hosted by the bride’s co-workers; and a bridal bruncheon Nov. 27 at Shield House in Clington hosted by Jennifer Matthews, aunt of the bride.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Nov. 27 at Southern Wayne Country Club.
