Spicer-Bolick
CONOVER — Elizabeth Peel Bolick of Raleigh and James Williams Spicer III of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael Kane officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Anna Peel Bolick and the late Ronda Kermit Bolick of Conover and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rolland K. Bolick of Conover and the late Mr. and Mrs. Dillon Charlie Peel of Everetts.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental studies and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Master of Accountancy degree. She is employed as a certified public accountant at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Williams Spicer Jr. of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Williams Spicer of Goldsboro and Mrs. Victor Parsons Cherry and the late Mr. Cherry of Opelika, Ala.
He graduated from Wayne Country Day School, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication and Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., with a Juris Doctorate degree. He is employed as an attorney with Baddour, Parker and Hine PC.
The bride was escorted by her brother, James Rolland Bolick, and given in marriage by her brother and mother.,
She wore her mother’s cathedral veil trimmed in an ivory lace.
The bride carried a bouquet of calla lilies, green hydrangeas and white roses in memory of her father.
Sarah Ramsey Funk of Atlanta, Ga., was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Tanya Councilman Bolick of Charlotte, sister-in-law of the bride; Eleanor Katharine Spicer of Raleigh, sister of the groom; Elizabeth Huss Arru of Charlotte; and Nina Staples Lloyd of Chapel Hill.
James Williams Spicer Jr. was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were James Rolland Bolick, brother of the bride, Luke Anthony Henderson of Birmingham, Ala., Brett Justin Quigley of Abilene, Texas, and Gregory Glenn Rice of Raleigh.
Ushers were Phillip Lewis Giles Jr. of Raleigh, Jason Scott Luck of Charleston, S.C., and Michael William Matelis of Washington, D.C.
Emma Nicole Bolick of Charlotte, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Bodie Davis Blackford and John Stanley Sanders of Elizabeth City were ringbearers.
Nancy Killian directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Clara Abernethy. Rose Abernethy and Estella Wepner distributed programs.
JoAnna Jones and Rachel Peel were acolytes.
A program of wedding music was provided by Kyle McClure, organist and vocalist, and a String Quartet and Les Amis of Hickory.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s mother hosted a reception at Catawba Country Club in New Bern.
After their wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Peacock Inn in Newton hosted by Opal Bolick, Sandy Chi, Libbie Lynn, Joan Gaudette and Sue Smith and a wedding day brunch at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Shuford Abernethy III in Conover.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Nov. 20 at Catawba Country Club in Newton.
