LAKE WACCAMAW — Olivia Lake Lewis of Lake Waccamaw and Donald Byrne Stocks of Lake Waccamaw exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. at the home of John A. McNeill Sr., with the Rev. Henry Swanzey and the Rev. Sommer Fuller Bower officiating.

The bride is the daughter of William Douglas Lewis Jr. and Kathy Long Lewis of Faison and the granddaughter of William D. Lewis Sr. and Ann Moore Lewis of Faison and Wade S. Long and the late Carol Batten Long of Wilmington.

She is a 2001 graduate of North Duplin High School and a 2004 graduate of Campbell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She is employed as a recruiter at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville.

The groom is the son of Donald Lathan and Julia Mohler Stocks of Lake Waccamaw and the grandson of Lucy B. Stocks and the late Leroy Stocks of Whiteville and Mr. and Mrs. William E. Mohler and the late Mary Ann Mohler of Charleston, W.Va.

He is a 2001 graduate of Whiteville High School and a 2003 graduate of Southeastern Community College. He is owner of Golf Cart Outlet Inc. in Southport.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory gown of satin. The bodice was embellished with crystals. The train was bustled with a broach that belonged to her great-grandmother, the late Bertha H. Batten.

The bride carried a bouquet of white and ivory roses.

Amanda Mohler of Charlotte, cousin of the groom, was maid of honor.

Honorary bridesmaids were Lyndsey Eloshway Lee, Cherish Tart, Emily Westbrook Thornton, Ruthie Hodges Sanders, Angela Hodges and Stephanie Britt Walters, friends of the bride.

Will Lewis of Wilmington, brother of the bride, was best man.

Elizabeth and Emily Poortvliet and Abigail Long, cousins of the bride, were flower girls.

Katherine Broadway directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Bob and Gail Crutchfield of Lake Waccamaw, friends of the couple. Summer and MacKenzie Long, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by John Lewis of Raleigh, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner reception at the home of John A. McNeill Sr.

After their wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Lake Waccamaw.

Events held before the wedding included a lakeside celebration July 18 in the garden at the home of Kenneth and Ruth Gaskins of Lake Waccamaw hosted by John and Susan Deans, Danny and Laura McNeill, Amy Formyduval, Andrea Formyduval, Robert Lewis, Ryan Shaw, Corbin Davis and Loretta Shaw; a Christmas pottery party July 25 at Keepsakes Pottery Playhouse hosted by Emily Thornton, friend of the bride; a linen shower Aug. 8 at the home of Julie and Don Stocks hosted by Amanda M. Mohler, cousin of the groom, Dina M. Mohler, aunt of the groom, and Denise A. Long, aunt of the bride; a lakeside cookout Aug. 22 at the home of Mack and Judi Thompson of Lake Waccamaw; a floating wedding shower Aug. 30 hosted by members of Faison United Methodist Church Women in Faison; a wedding luncheon Sept. 12 at the historic home of Mary Wyche Mintz in Wyche Woods, Hallsboro, hosted by. Dr. Thelma H. Mitchell and Mary McBride Mintz; a kitchen shower Sept. 13 at Faison Presbyterian Church fellowship hall; a girls’ weekend hosted by Amanda Mohler and friends of the bride in Charleston, S.C.; and a welcome-to-Lake-Waccamaw lakeside supper hosted by Bob and Gail Crutchfield.

W.E. and Ellen Mohler, grandparents of the groom, Barbara and Bill Shepherd, Ann and Mike Maddox, Bill and Dina Mohler and David and Sherry Mohler, aunts and uncles of the groom hosted a wedding day brunch.

Genie, Buster and Kate Carter, Gail and Bob Crutchfield, Sarah Crutchfield, Laura Crutchfield Shinn and Donna, Stephen and Elizabeth Prince hosted a brunch Oct. 4 at the home of Dick and Lynn Crutchfield.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Lake Waccamaw Sailing Club.
