MOUNT OLIVE — Kristen Leigh Knowles of Mount Olive and Darren Blake Herring exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 10 at 3 p.m. at Mount Olive College, with the Rev. Frank Harrison officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Robert Earl Knowles of Hampstead and Karen Outlaw Arnette of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of Robert Knowles, the late Joyce Knowles and the late Leslie and Emma Outlaw of Mount Olive.

She is a 2005 graduate of East Duplin High School and a 2008 graduate of Mount Olive College with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management. She is employed as the accounts payable accountant at Mount Olive College.

The groom is the son of Darren Ray Herring and Janet Pate-Peedin of Mount Olive and the grandson of Donald and Linda Herring, Iris Pate and the late Donald Pate of Mount Olive.

He is a 2005 graduate of North Duplin High School. He is employed as an electrician at Herring Electric Co.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless white gown with a beaded bodice and beadwork along the skirt. A lace-up back flowed into a semi-cathedral train adorned with beadwork.

Her headpiece was a tiara of pearls with a waist-length veil adorned with diamonds on the hemline.

The bride carried a bouquet of fall-colored calla lilies and roses wrapped in ribbon adorned with a broach that belonged to her maternal grandmother.

Jesi Knowles-Brock was her sister’s matron of honor, while Holly Knowles, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Alyssa Herring and Danielle Peedin, sisters of the groom; Mary Hare, friend of the bride; Lindsey Knowles, cousin-in-law of the bride; Danielle Street, cousin of the bride; and Samantha Barry, friend of the couple.

Darren Herring was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Nick Barfield, Joyner King, Matt Braswell and Matt Whitfield, friends of the groom; Taylor Knowles, brother of the bride; and Sterling Grice, cousin of the bride.

Joe Hudson was honorary groomsman in remembrance of Eric Hudson.

Ushers were Leslie Outlaw and Adam Knowles, cousins of the bride; Alan Brock, brother-in-law of the bride; and Tom Bell, friend of the groom.

Kelsey Outlaw and Riley Outlaw, cousins of the bride, were flower girls. Brennon Knowles, nephew of the bride, was the ringbearer.

Vanessa Rivenbark directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Sarah Lopez, friend of the bride.

A program of wedding music was provided by Brian Knowles, uncle of the bride.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lois K. Murphy Regional Center at Mount Olive College.

After their wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will reside in Calypso.

Events held before the wedding included a wedding shower Aug. 18 hosted by ladies of Tri-County Electric; a wedding shower Aug. 30 hosted by bride’s family; a pig picking Sept. 26 hosted by groom’s family; a bridal luncheon and lingerie party Oct. 3 hosted by bride’s sisters; and bachelor and bachelorette parties Oct. 2 through 4 hosted by friends.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Oct. 9 at Lois K. Murphy Regional Center.
