Paula Elaine Webber and Lucas Charles Deaver of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 29 at 3 p.m. at United in Christ Church, with pastor Ira Williford officiating.

The bride is the daughter of John and Elaine Webber of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Sidney Webber, the late Edith Webber, the late Rose Webber, Shelton and Nina Rhodes, Shirley Carter and the late Ralph Carter of Goldsboro.

She is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and Wayne Community College. She is employed part-time at Wilber’s Barbecue and as a phlebotomist at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The groom is the son of Charles and Faye Deaver of Faison and the grandson of Ressie and Mary Lou Howard of Mount Olive, the late Johnnie Deaver of Dudley, the late Ester Deaver of Suttontown and Ruby Deaver of Florida.

He is a graduate of Hobbton High School. He is employed with UPS and part-time with at Johnny’s Seafood restaurant.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a chiffon princess-line dress with an empire waist, a halter neckline and a sweep train accented with crystal beaded trim.

Her headpiece was a tiara of crystal beading that extended into a single-tiered veil with silver beads.

The bride carried a clutch bouquet of Caribbean blue and hot pink chrysanthemums, white gardenias and white lily of the valley flowers.

Summer Scott was her cousin’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Amanda Pate, sister of the groom, and Brooke Gray and Sarah Hale, friends of the couple.

Reid Wester was his friend’s best man.

Groomsmen were Joshua Deaver, cousin of the groom; Andrew Webber, brother of the bride; and Justin Casey, friend of the couple.

Shae Odom, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Kaleab Pate, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.

Shelly Anderson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Maura Phipps.

A program of wedding music was provided by Bill English, pianist; Dianne Phipps and Jeremy Chase, vocalists; and Mike Davis, sound technician.

Following the ceremony, Elizabeth Golimowski, Patsy Bass, Kay Sasser, Linda Hinkson and Susan Bass, aunts of the bride, hosted a reception in the church fellowship hall.

After their wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

Events held before the wedding included a wedding shower Aug. 9 at Goshen New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church hosted by the groom’s family; a wedding shower Aug. 16 at United in Christ Church hosted by the bride’s family; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon Aug. 23 at the Royal Tea Room hosted by Rhonda and Brooke Gray.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Western Sizzlin Steakhouse.
