BENSON — Meghan Lynn Brewer and William Ray Best exchanged vows in an outdoor garden double-ring ceremony Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. at the Preston Woodall House, with the Rev. Gary Bailey, uncle of the groom, officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Norris Brewer of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of the late Lloyd Bradford and Ethel Sutton Brewer, Georgia Rouse Grady and the late Paul Durham Grady Sr. of Mount Olive.

She is a graduate of North Duplin High School and North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. She attends Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law.

The groom is the son of Oliver Ray Best Jr. of Dudley and Olivia Raper Best of Faison and the grandson of the late Oliver Ray Best Sr. and Betty Jane Best of Dudley and Dr. William Burkette and Rose Mallard Raper of Mount Olive.

He is a graduate of North Duplin High School and North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He is employed as a project engineer with GXi International of Clayton.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a formal gown of white satin faced organza. A bias cuff edged the strapless neckline of the fitted bodice that flowed into a slim fit and flare skirt. Covered buttons detailed the back of the gown streaming from the V-back neckline to the end of the chapel train. A matching bias band trimmed the hemline of the skirt and train. She also wore a necklace of crystals and pearls.

Her headpiece was a sheer illusion veil worn by her mother.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of Asiatic lilies, purple tulips, orange unique roses, green hypericum berries and purple statice wrapped in sheer purple ribbon.

Abbie Ivey Williams of Greensboro was her friend’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Holly Grady Edwards of Clinton, cousin of the bride, and Lyndsey Eloshway Lee and Courtneay Kornegay Overbee of Clayton and Megan Gayle West of Murphy, friends of the bride.

Oliver Ray Best Jr. was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Jonathan Ross Blowe of Chapel Hill, Casey Ray Davis of Bryson City, Adam Justin Downing of Raleigh and William Brooks Jones of Mount Olive, friends of the groom.

Annie Rose Lassiter, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Andrew Jeffrey Lassiter, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.

Wanda Whaley of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, directed the wedding. William Hardy

Bryan of Mount Olive, greeted guests.

A program of wedding music was provided by Jeff Simpson.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception in the Cora Lily ballroom at the Preston Woodall House.

After their wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Benson.

Events held before the wedding included a dinner June 27 at the Steak Barn hosted by Ray and Wanda Best, George and Ronna Grady and Steve and Donna Davis; a miscellaneous shower June 28 at the Grady home hosted by Gale Grady and Holly Edwards; a bachelorette weekend July 10 through 12 in Topsail Island hosted by the bridesmaids; a miscellaneous shower July 19 at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church hosted by Kristie Bailey, Laura Buddin, Elizabeth Hood and Susan Raper; a dinner July 25 at Ribeyes Steakhouse in Clinton hosted by Paul and Gale Grady followed by a surprise honeymoon shower; a luncheon July 29 at Southern Exposure in Faison hosted by Rose Beavers, Debbie Grady, Barbara Guy, Ellen Moody, Gayle Morgan, Gloria Morgan, Dottie Shipman and Evelyn Wells; a bridesmaids’ luncheon Aug. 15 at the Royal Tea Room hosted by the bride’s mother; and a bachelor party Aug. 20 in Raleigh hosted by the groomsmen.

The groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner Aug. 21 at the Preston Woodall House.
