Easley - Postma
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. — Sara Elizabeth Postma of Spartanburg, S.C., and Adam Michael Easley of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Pawley’s Island Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Rhett Talbert officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Jan Hendrik Postma Jr. and Sara Lynn Cline Postma of Spartanburg and the granddaughter of Jan Hendrik Postma Sr. and Emily Vogt Postma of Marianna, Fla., and the late Cornelius Fulton Cline Jr. and Sarah Helen Webb Cline of Greenville, S.C.
She graduated from Spartanburg High School in 2000, Washington and Lee University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and Charleston School of Law in 2008 with a Juris Doctor degree.
The groom is the son of Roger Michael Easley and Lynn Helms Easley of Goldsboro and the grandson of Mary Elizabeth Smith Easley and the late Jackson Robert Easley Jr., the late William Richard Helms Sr. and Hallie Troutman Helms of Goldsboro.
He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1999 and North Carolina State University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management with a concentration in marketing. He is employed as an account executive at K and J Enterprises in Durham.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless formal gown of silk radzimir with a ballgown skirt and chapel-length train with lace from her great-grandmother’s and mother’s wedding gowns sewn in.
Her headpiece was a cathedral-length veil edged with scalloped Alencon lace.
The bride carried a bouquet of vandella cream roses and antique green hydrangeas mixed with white cymbidium and dendrobium orchids with the stem wrapped with her grandmother’s handkerchief.
Catalina Nicole Garreton of San Francisco, Calif., was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kesler Elizabeth Belmont of Spartanburg, Austin Hendrix Holland of Laurens, S.C., Lawson White Jenkins of Charlottesville, Va., Meredith Pringle Marks of Columbia, S.C., Caroline Claiborne Parker of Charlotte, Ana Maria Estrada Postma of Arlington, Va., Jane Panetta Postma of New York, N.Y., Natalie Ann Spires of Augusta, Ga., Amelia Simonds Waring of Charleston and Hayes Penick Willingham of Raleigh.
Roger Michael Easley was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Cameron Helms Easley of Memphis, Tenn., brother of the groom; Jan Hendrik Postma III of New York, N.Y., and William Fulton Postma of Arlington, brothers of the bride; and Lee Johnson Brashear of New York, N.Y., Benjamin Layton Grisette of Atlanta, Douglas Craig Kelly of Chapel Hill, Christopher James Moore of Barnwell, S.C., Westbrook Johnson Parker of Jackson, Wyo., Thomas Warren Parr and John Dean Willingham IV of Raleigh, and William Curtis Stackhouse of Chapel Hill.
Cheryl Cox directed the wedding. Harriet Wooten Cooper Gruber, Alicia Bee Ravenel and Virginia Creary Snider greeted guests.
A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. Dianna Scroggins, organist; Dr. Timothy Altman, trumpeter; and Dr. Amy Hardison-Tully, flutist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception and dance at the DeBordieu Country Club.
After a wedding trip to southern France, the couple resides in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included an oyster roast Dec. 27 at Walnut Creek Country Club hosted by family and friends of the groom; an engagement party Jan. 24 in Spartanburg at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Lowndes hosted by friends of the bride; an engagement party March 7 in Raleigh at the home of Davis Poisson and Britt Preyer hosted by friends of the couple; a a bridesmaids’ luncheon April 17 at Pawleys Plantation Clubhouse hosted by Elizabeth Baucom, aunt of the bride, and friends; and a dance April 17 at the Blue Heron Deck hosted by the groom’s parents and friends of the couple.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner April 17 at the DeBordieu Beach Club.
