MANTEO — Melanie Danielle Ackiss of Seven Springs and Joshua Paul Caroon of Seven Springs exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 18 at 3 p.m. at the Elizabethan Gardens, with the Rev. Phillip Garrett officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Wendy Walton of Seven Springs and Warren and Sharon Ackiss of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Elma S. Walton and the late Rifton Walton of Beulaville, Elizabeth Stocks and the late Maynard Stocks and Bobby and Jean Ackiss of Goldsboro.

She is a 2005 graduate of Spring Creek High School and a 2009 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in early childhood education. She is employed with Wonderland Christian Childcare of Seven Springs.

The groom is the son of Laura Caroon of Wanchese and Donald and Hazel Caroon of Aurora and the grandson of Joan Sarra and the late Lawrence Sarra of Greensboro and Cashwell and Irma Caroon of Southport.

He graduated from Manteo Alternative School in 2002 and Wayne Community College in 2006 in GM ASEP. He is employed with Butterball’s maintenance department.

The bride wore a gown of white satin with insets of colored panels of claret with a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with bugle beads, pearls and sequins. The A-line skirt was adorned with beaded floral designs. The back bodice had a lace-up corset back that cascaded into a cathedral train.

Kelly Jones was her friend’s maid of honor.

Danielle Rose, stepsister of the bride, was the bridesmaid.

Ben Caroon was his brother’s best man and usher.

Shawn Curles was the groomsman and an usher.

Gage Price, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer and pulled a wagon with Emma Price and Bell Hatchell in it.

Sherry Smith directed the wedding, assisted by Richard Smith of Goldsboro.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Old Nags Head Cove in Nags Head.

The couple resides in Indian Springs.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower Feb. 21 at Seven Springs Baptist Church fellowship hall hosted by the bride’s mother, family and friends.

The groom’s father held a rehearsal dinner April 17 at Western Sizzlin in Manteo.
