Howell - Moity
Lauren Marie Howell and Sebastien Lewis Moity, both of Raleigh, exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony at 6 p.m. May 16 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Neal Wingfield officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Timothy Jarman and Mary Ann Howell of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Frances Howell and the late O.J. Howell of Goldsboro and the late Thurman T. and Wilma M. Simpson of Roseboro.
She graduated from Charles B. Aycock in 2003 and is a cum laude graduate from UNC-Wilmington with a bachelor of arts degree in education and psychology in 2008.
She is employed as a kindergarten teacher in Wake County.
The groom is the son of Thierry Henri and Patricia Moity of Wilmington and the grandson of the late Ms. Paulette Clerc of France and the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Willot-Lipiarski of France.
He graduated in 2002 from UNC-Chapel Hill with a bachelor of arts degree in communication.
He is employed as an analyst with PPD of Raleigh.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless gown of cafe matte satin with a sweetheart neckline and a ruched fitted bodice. The dropped waistline was accented with a band of bugle, seed and glass beads, Swarovski crystals and sequins. Covered buttons accented the V-back of the gown that flowed into a chapel train.
The fingertip veil was adorned with an ornate design of seed beads, sequins and Swarovski crystals.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of Virginia roses accented with seeded eucalyptus.
Cameron Hughes of Chapel Hill served as matron of honor, and Justine Barnes of Goldsboro was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Lindsey Hill and Jill Davis of Greenville.
Michael Chenier of Chapel Hill served as best man.
Groomsmen were Chris Helin of Middle Island, N.Y., Kert Johnson of Memphis, Tenn., Garrett Mangieri of Los Angeles and Justin Rossi of Reno, Nev.
Allie Wall and Erin Jarrell were flower girls.
Christian Howell, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.
Sheila Warrick directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Courtney Barnes, and Anna Wall distributed programs. Coleman Simpson, cousin of the bride, served as the bearer of the tintinnabulum.
A program of wedding music was provided by Karen Patzer, pianist, and Alice Campbell, organist. Jill Howell, (sister-in-law of the bride), Christopher Lawing (cousin of bride), Jeane Anderson and Jay Sauls were vocalists.
A dance reception immediately followed the ceremony at Goldsboro Country Club. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. George Cogdell. The reception directors were Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Smith. Entertainment was provided by The Revelers.
After a wedding trip that includes Spain, France and Portugal, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
A rehearsal dinner was held at the Moity family restaurant, Caprice Bistro in Wilmington, and was hosted by the groom’s parents.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party held on Sept. 20, at the home of the bride’s parents, hosted by Lu Ann and Marshall Smith, Barbara and Steve Herring, Winnie Sue and Sammy Sasser, Sherrie and George Cogdell, Sherie and Johnny Metz, and Jack Peacock.; a miscellanous shower held by friends of Salem United Methodist Church on March 15; a bridal shower on April 19, was given by Jill Howell and Donna Stewart, at the home of Jill Howell; a bachelorette beach retreat was held on the weekend of April 25 in Morehead City, hosted by Cameron Hughes and Justine Barnes; a miscellaneous shower was hosted by co-workers on May 5; a spa retreat was held on May 15 at Self Expression Salon and Spa, hosted by Nell Lawing, aunt of the bride; and a wedding day breakfast honoring the bride and her attendants was given by Bonnie Hughes, Whitney Barnes and Frances Howell, grandmother of the bride, at the Hughes home.
A Sunday brunch was enjoyed on May 17, at the home of Lu Ann and Marshall Smith, hosted by the Smiths and Sherrie and George Cogdell.
