Courtney Leigh Howell and Willard Howard Johnson III (Trey) exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony at 2 p.m. on May 9 at Highest Praise Tabernacle, with pastor Jonathan Chavous officiating and Mike Bailey assisting.

The bride is the daughter of Edward Shane and Joy Crow Howell and the granddaughter of the late Edwin S. and Ruth E. Crow, Ms. Shirley Cook and James Edward and Joyce Howell, all of Goldsboro.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School.

She is currently enrolled in the nursing program at Wayne Community College.

She is employed as a lead teacher at Wayne Christian Daycare.

The groom is the son of Willard Howard Johnson Jr. and Lee Sessoms Johnson (Sim) and the grandson of Willard Howard Johnson and the late Retha Jordan Johnson and Barbara Bagwell Trail and the late David Martin Trail, all of Goldsboro.

The groom is a 2005 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2007 graduate of Wayne Community College with a degree in turf grass management. He is employed as supervisor for Johnboy’s Lawn Care Service.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by parents.

She wore a formal gown of white satin with a lace overlay and a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with re-embroidered Alencon lace and flowed into an A-line skirt. Satin-covered bridal buttons cascaded down the chapel length train.

Melissa Kepley was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Kerri Shipp, Christy Sullivan, Kelli Narron, Ashley Marshall and Karrie Johnson.

Willard Howard Johnson Jr. served as best man.

Groomsmen were John Gray, Chad Gurley, Blake Gray, Chris Davis and Elroy Marshall.

Unique Marshall and Addison Smith were flower girls.

Jadyn Marshall was ringbearer.

Mrs. Cookie Chavous directed the wedding.

Presiding at the register were Taylor Shipp and Katie Carey, cousins of the couple.

Mrs. JoAnne Walston directed the reception.

An outdoor reception was held immediately following the wedding on the lawn of Highest Praise Tabernacle in Goldsboro.

After a wedding trip to Wilmington, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents on May 8 at The Carpenter’s House at Whitley Church with an island party theme.

Mrs. Betty Grantham directed this event.

Events hosted before the wedding included a Christmas shower hosted by the groom’s family in the groom’s home; a wedding shower hosted in March at Church on the Rock by friends and family; a lingerie shower hosted by the bride’s sisters in the home of Christy Sullivan in Mount Olive on April 3; a tool shower for the groom hosted by Josh and Freddy Narron at Church on the Rock on April 3.
