Sherrod - Tillman
RALEIGH — Candise M. Sherrod of Fremont and Tyrone A. Tillman exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. at the LongView Center, with the Rev. David Spratley Sr. officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Charlita Sherrod of Owings Mills, Md., and the granddaughter of Billy Sherrod Sr. of Baltimore, Md., and Smithy Sherrod of Fremont.
She is a 2000 honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2005 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. She is employed at BB&T.
The groom is the son of Carlton Tillman and JoAnne Satchell of Williamsburg, Va., and the grandson of Gladys Mitchell of Douglas, Ga., the late Albert Johnson Sr. of Plainfield, N.J., and Erna Atanasu and the late Pete Atanasu of Williston, N.D.
He graduated cum laude from North Carolina A&T State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He is employed at Miliken & Co. as an advance process engineer.
The bride was escorted by her uncle, Billy Sherrod Jr., and given in marriage by Charlita Sherrod.
She wore a white strapless satin ball gown with a neckline trimmed in lavender and a lace-up back with a sweep train.
Her headpiece was a tiara with a single row of diamonds that extended into a double-tiered veil trimmed in lavender.
The bride carried a bouquet of off-white calla lilies.
Walisha Spellman was her friend’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Janine Hines, Carmen Smith and Stephanie Tucker, friends of the bride, and Tiffany Ray, cousin of the bride.
Marcus Tillman was hiss brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Landon Haywood, Dontee Heard, Turi Lipkins, Bryan Randall and Demario Samuels, friends of groom.
Ushers were Craig Lassiter, friend of the groom, and Quandre Tillman, nephew of the groom.
Sydney Tillman, niece of groom, was flower girl. Donovan Tillman, nephew of groom, was ringbearer.
Shamequa Hill, cousin of bride, distributed programs.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh.
After a wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple reside in Greer, S.C.
Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower Jan. 6 hosted by the staff of BB&T and a bachelorette party weekend Jan. 9 through 11 in Atlanta, Ga., hosted by Walisha Spellman and Stephanie Tucker.
The groom’s father hosted a rehearsal dinner in Raleigh.
