Courtney Elizabeth Howell and Justin Lee Howell of Ormondsville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 11 at 4 p.m. at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with Michael Williams officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Gilbert and Sharon Howell of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Edna Howell Orton, the late Deams Howell of Goldsboro and Paul and Joyce Bartlett of Goldsboro.

She is a 2004 honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2008 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She is employed as a fourth-grade teacher at Tommy’s Road Elementary.

The groom is the son of Johnnie Ray and Theresa Howell of Hookerton and the grandson of the late Ray and Virginia Howell of Shine and Leslie and Annie Johnson of Ormondsville.

He is a 2000 graduate of Greene Central High School. He is employed as a dental technician at Affordable Dentures.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a formal gown of white royal satin with a strapless neckline. The pleated empire bodice was enhanced with beadwork. The A-line gown was decorated at the front hemline with beaded embroidery and led down the back bodice cascading into a semi-cathedral train

Her headpiece was rhinestone tiara that extended into a single-tiered veil of silk illusion with a penciled edge.

The bride carried a bouquet of white calla lilies.

Joy Gardner of Goldsboro was her friend’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Leigh Ann Horton and Allison Wolfe of Goldsboro, sisters of the bride; Stacey Howell of Hookerton, sister-in-law of the groom; and Tara Sutherland of Goldsboro, friend of the bride.

Johnnie Ray Howell was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Josh Howell of Hookerton, brother of the groom; Matt Jones of Snow Hill, cousin of the groom; and Corey Harrison of Wilmington and Jesse Sutton of Cove City, friends of the groom.

Anna Bartlett, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid. Blake Bartlett, cousin of the bride, was the junior groomsman.

Danielle Moore, friend of the bride, was flower girl. Tyler Horton, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.

Anna White and Janet Moore directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Brooke Harrison. Dustin Wood and Tyrek Durham distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Sarai Fulcher, pianist, and Laura Johnson, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Walnut Creek Country Club. Greeters were Steven and Deanna Bartlett, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Eric and Paula Steele, cousins of the bride.

After a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple resides in Ormondsville.

Events held before the wedding included a Christmas shower Jan. 3 at the home of Paula Steele, cousin of the bride; a Pampered Chef shower Jan. 23 at the home of Erin Chase, friend of the couple; a shower Feb. 15 at Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church hosted by the groom’s family; a shower Feb. 22 at Free Chapel Church hosted by the bride’s family and friends; a bachelorette weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C., March 20 through 22 hosted by Joy Gardner; a bachelor weekend in Las Vegas, Nev., March 26 through 28, hosted by friends of the groom; a lingerie shower March 28 hosted by Allison Wolfe; and a shower April 7 at Tommy’s Road Elementary hosted by the fourth-grade staff.

The groom’s family held a rehearsal dinner April 10 at the church.
