Shirley Ann Proctor of Fremont and Bobby Lee Gooding Jr. of Eureka exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. at Goldsboro First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Roland Harrell officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Thomas and Linda Murray Proctor of Fremont and the granddaughter of Myrtle Ivey and the late Thomas and Lillian Murray of Fremont.

The bride is a 1986 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, a 1988 graduate of Emmanuel College in Georgia and a 1991 graduate of Barton College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

The groom is the son of Bobby Lee Gooding Sr. of Pikeville and Patsy Wise of Cape Carteret, the stepson of Danny Wise of Cape Carteret and Eleanor Gooding of Pikeville and the grandson of the late Isaac and Hazel Gooding of Pikeville and Wilbert and Doris Evans of Goldsboro.

The groom is a 1986 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2008 graduate of Mount Olive College with an Associate of Arts degree. He is employed as an operations supervisor at Piedmont Natural Gas.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless ivory satin A-line ballgown with a side-draped bodice, an asymmetric skirt and a matching ivory satin bolero jacket.

Her headpiece was a fingertip-length veil trimmed in rhinestones with snowflake-shaped crystal pins in her hair.

The bride carried a cascading bouquet of red freedom roses, trailing Italian ruscus and evergreens accented with Swarovski crystals and silver beads in an antique sterling silver tussy-mussy.

Cathy Stelly of Dudley was her friend’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Melissa Newsome of Eureka, friend of the couple, and Debra Proctor of High Point, sister of the bride.

Bobby Gooding Sr. of Pikeville was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Rodney Gooding of Mount Olive, brother of the groom, and Bruce Newsome of Eureka, friend of the couple.

Joshua Gooding, son of the groom, was the usher.

Elissa Keno directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Lauren Gooding, daughter of the groom.

Special helpers were Penny Withrow and John Stutts.

A program of wedding music was provided by Todd Wells, pianist, and Kimberly Harris and John Warren, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception was held at Lanetree Golf Club .

After a wedding cruise to the southern Caribbean, the couple resides in Eureka.

Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ brunch Jan. 17 at the Royal Tea Room; a bachelorette party Nov. 28 in New York hosted by Stefani Chambers, Kimberly Harris and Kelly Wilson; and an engagement dinner in the Aug. 23 in Wilson First Pentecostal Holiness Church fellowship hall.

The couple hosted a rehearsal dinner Jan. 16 in the church fellowship hall.
