Oates - Odom
ROCKY MOUNT — Shakina Janae Odom and Corey E. Oates exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. at Red Bud Holy Church, with Dr. Kimberly Walston officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Bishop Don and Gail D. Batts of Rocky Mount and the granddaughter Addie Whitaker of Rocky Mount.
She is employed as a healthcare manager at ACS.
The groom is the son of Lottie Oates of Faison.
He is employed as an equipment operator with the city of Goldsboro.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her parents.
Tara Scott-Coppedge was matron of honor, while Robyn Williams was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Shiela Howard, Ramona Garrett, Nicole Wilson-Hicks, Adria Oates and Sonya Oates.
Arrette Oates was best man.
Groomsmen were DeShawn Morrison, Jarvis Oates, Ronald George, Ronald Woodard and Chauncey Odom.
Ushers were Warren Lynch and Lorraine Odom.
Jaimyiah Draper was the miniature bride. Armari Richardson-Barnes was the miniature groom.
Jailyn Draper was the junior bridesmaid. Nigel Pulley was the junior groomsman.
Dalfina Broady was the honorary bridesmaid. Corey Odom was the honorary groomsman.
Jamilla Draper was flower girl. Javen Baker was ringbearer.
Christine Benjamin directed the wedding.
Annie Bell Baker, aunt, was a special helper.
A program of wedding music was provided by Wanda Barnes-Morgan, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Outreach Center in Rocky Mount.
After a wedding cruise to the Caymen Islands, Cozumel, Mexico, Belize and Honduras, the couple reside in Rocky Mount.
Events held before the wedding included a ladies’ night out Sept. 26 and a bridal shower Sept. 12 at Red Lobster in Rocky Mount hosted by the matron of honor.
