WINSTON-SALEM — Marian Ione Lowe of Raleigh and Darryl Ross Kennedy exchanged vows Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, with the Rev. Brian J. Cook officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ernest Lowe III of Winston-Salem and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph James Hinds of Gastonia and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ernest Lowe Jr. of Raleigh.

She graduated magna cum laude from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in child development and family relations. She is employed as an early intervention service coordinator for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services in Smithfield.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Royal Kennedy Sr. of Goldsboro and the grandson of Mrs. and Mrs. Howard West and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Bridgers Kennedy of Goldsboro.

He is a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. He is employed as project manager for Hine Sitework Inc.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory strapless A-line gown of Italian silk and satin. It was accented by an Alencon lace bodice and champagne satin ribbon tied at the waist. The ribbon was accented with an heirloom broach from the bride’s late maternal grandmother.

Her headpiece was a single-tiered veil trimmed with Chantilly lace.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of orchids, hydrangeas and cream roses.

Heidi Nicole Sell of Charlotte, friend of the bride, was her friend’s matron of honor, while Lindsey Suzanne Pleban of Winston-Salem, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Courtney Alexander Lowe of Athens, Ga., sister-in-law of the bride; and Jennifer Day Lucas and Blair Elizabeth Ruark of Winston-Salem and Maura Christin O’Hara of Spring Lake Heights, N.J., friends of the bride.

The groom’s father and Wylie Fort Parker of New York, N.Y., friend of the groom, were best men.

Groomsmen were Alfred Benjamin Goodrich II of Raleigh, John Majette Seegars of Goldsboro and James Francis Harper II of Alexandria, Va., friends of the groom; Joseph Ernest Lowe IV of Athens, Ga., brother of the bride; and Durwood Royal Kennedy Jr. of Raleigh, brother of the groom.

Readers were Garrett Radford Garner of Raleigh and Richard Maus Johnson III of Wilmington, friends of the groom, and Joseph James Hinds III of Atlanta, godfather of the bride.

Joanne Parcell directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Morgan Montgomery Bailey of Youngsville, friend of the bride. Molly Day Morris of Chicago, friend of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Barbara Chandler, organist; Jeffry Christian Griffin, vocalist; Fabrice Dharamraj, violinist; and Karl Kassner, trumpeter.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Forsyth Country Club in Winston-Salem.

After a wedding trip to Big Sur and Nappa Valley, Calif., the couple reside in Goldsboro.

Events held before the wedding included a garden shower in Goldsboro hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Neal Weston Seegars, Mr. and Mrs. James Canady Parker and Mr. and Mrs. Neil Moultrie Hine; a wedding shower in Goldsboro hosted by family and friends of the groom; a wedding shower in Winston-Salem hosted by Marjorie Beckman Luckhart, Elizabeth Luckhart Ackerman and Katherine Luckhart McDermott; a wedding shower and luncheon in Smithfield hosted by co-workers of the bride; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Salem Tavern in Old Salem hosted by the bride’s mother and maid of honor.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Piedmont Club in Winston-Salem.
