WINTERVILLE — Candice Ryan Ivey and James Arthur Coulter exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 4 at Peace Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Paul Lang officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Elaine Ivey of Mount Olive and Jeff Ivey of Williamston and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Davis of Mount Olive, Mr. and Mrs. Mallie Honeycutt of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Major Ivey of Fremont.

She graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1996 and Mount Olive College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation and leisure studies with a concentration in geriatrics. She is employed as a recreational therapist at Cypress Glen Retirement Community in Greenville.

The groom is the son of Sophie Coulter of Durham and Robert Coulter of Greenville and the grandson of Dr. Francis Newton and the late Mrs. Louis Newton of Chapel Hill and Dr. Norman “Art” Coulter and the late Dr. Elizabeth Coulter of Greenville.

He graduated from D.H. Conley High School in 1997 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a master’s degree in social work. He is employed as a clinical social worker at Walter B. Jones Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center in Greenville.

The bride was escorted by her grandfather, Jimmie Davis, and presented in marriage by her father.

She wore a white matte satin gown with a fitted bodice and a dropped waist. The sleeveless dress was encrusted with iridescent beading and seed pearls. It had a chapel-length train adorned with Italian appliqués.

Her headpiece was a beaded tiara with a white fingertip veil and a cascading chapel-length veil trimmed with seed pearls.

Amber Wall of Greenville was her twin sister’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Jennifer Moye and Jamie Livengood of Goldsboro and Jennifer Merritt of Mount Olive, friends of the bride, and Mayranna Coulter of New York City, sister of the groom.

Bryson Wall, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.

Dr. Debbie Grady of Goldsboro directed the wedding.

Dr. Francis Newton, grandfather of the groom, was Scripture reader.

A program of wedding music was provided by the Rev. Michael McKnight, pianist; Sarah Lang, violinist; Arnold Jones of Goldsboro, uncle of the bride, vocalist; and Caroline and Alyssa Jones, signers.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s mother hosted a dinner reception at Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville. Dr. and Mrs. Lon Davis greeted guests. Melanie Ivey cut the wedding cake. Loni Davis served ice cream.

After a wedding trip to Aruba, the couple reside in Winterville.

Events held before the wedding included an out-of-town luncheon Oct. 4 at Parker’s Barbecue hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Davis, grandparents of the bride, and Dr. and Mrs. Lon Davis, uncle and aunt of the bride; a shower Oct. 1 at Walter B. Jones Center hosted by Yvonne Pearce; a dinner party Sept. 27 hosted by Jan Kerins and co-workers of the bride; a bridesmaids’ luncheon Sept. 27 at Goldsboro Country Club hosted by Donna Ricks, Diane Joyner, Leona Brock, Jennifer Parker, Marie Abrams, Susan Lancaster and Debbie Grady; a floating shower Sept. 13 at First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive hosted by Lib Swinson, Terri Gardner, Ann Kennedy and Janet McGraw, friends of the bride’s mother; a pig picking Sept. 6 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Ivey of Goldsboro hosted by the Iveys; a bachelorette weekend in August in Wilmington hosted by Jenny Leigh Grady and the bridesmaids; a honey-do shower in August at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Philip Moye, friends of the bride, hosted by the Moyes; a bachelor party in Las Vegas, Nev., hosted by Josh McCullen, friend of the groom; and a shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bryant hosted by Peace Presbyterian Church members.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at CPW’s in Greenville. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
