WILSON — Lauren Nicole Dickens and Matthew Blake Crawford of Pikeville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. at Wilson Rose Garden, with Pastor Barry Stallings officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. James Vernon and Carol Goodwin Felts of Goldsboro, the stepdaughter of Dr. James Vernon Felts, the granddaughter of Sandra Goodwin-Pliescott and the late Robert Lee Goodwin of Wadesboro and the stepgranddaughter of Woody Pliescott of Wadesboro and Bobby and Janet Felts of Ivory, Va.

She is a 2005 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2006 graduate of Wayne Community College’s dental assisting program. She is employed as a certified dental assistant with Dr. Philip K. Brantly.

The groom is the son of Martha King of Mount Olive and the late Michael Crawford of Nahunta, the stepson of Ben King and the grandson of Joyce Pope of Pikeville.

He is a 1999 graduate of Southern Wayne High School. He is a former owner in the Andy’s corporation. He is employed as a manager at McCall’s Barbecue and Seafood.

The bride was escorted by her stepfather and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white strapless A-line gown with all-over lace beading embroidered with rose print. The empire waist was accented with a pool blue sash tied in the back with the sash cascading down the sweep-length train.

Her headpiece was a rhinestone tiara with a one-tiered elbow-length veil with pearls and crystals along the edge.

The bride carried a clutch bouquet of white miniature callas, orange unique roses, tree fern and ruscus wrapped in white sheer ribbon with pearl accents.

Sheila Atkinson was her friend’s matron of honor, while Jennifer Felts, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

Dawn Stribble, sister of the groom, was the bridesmaid.

Ben King was his stepson’s best man.

Groomsmen were Jay Hudson, friend of the groom and Johnny Stribble, brother-in-law of the groom.

Shelby Billups, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.

Cora Mae Crawford, daughter of the groom, was flower girl. Payson Crawford, son of the groom, was ringbearer.

Donnie Ferrell directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Cathy Carey, aunt of the bride.

Special helpers were Tammy Stevenson and Sarah Lopez, friends of the couple.

A program of wedding music was provided by Woody Pliescott, stepgrandfather of the bride, pianist, and Jenna Ferrell and Walton Aycock, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a garden-themed reception at Pikeville-Pleasant Grove Church.

After a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple reside in Pikeville.

Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon Aug. 23 at Pikeville Pleasant Grove Church hosted by Mrs. Donnie Ferrell; a bridal shower Aug. 12 at Rain Tree pool house hosted by Sheila Atkinson; a wedding shower Aug. 10 at Pikeville-Pleasant Grove Church hosted by their church families; and a bridal shower July 5 in Wadesboro hosted by Cathy Carey and Crystal Goodwin, aunts of the bride, and Sandra Pliescott, grandmother of the bride.

The groom’s parents hosted a luau-themed rehearsal dinner at Nahunta Friends Church.
