TOWNSEND, Tenn. — April Michele James of Goldsboro and Kevin Dean Hughes of Asheville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 14 at 3 p.m. at Heartland Wedding Chapel, with the Rev. Joe Lambert officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Jesse Berry James Jr. of Goldsboro and Barbara Jean Reese of Grantham, the stepdaughter of Ronnie Lee Reese, the granddaughter of Etheleen Butts, Elnora Brogden and the late Gene Brogden of Goldsboro and the late Jesse B. James Sr. of Smithfield and the stepgranddaughter of the late Will Powell and Dwight Butts.

The groom is the son of Larry Dean and Anita Lynn Hughes of Fairview and the grandson of Lili Mae and the late Jason Hughes of Burnsville and the late Horace and Maxine Blackwell of Asheville.

The bride was escorted by her son, Corey Burdeski.

Kellen Capps was her friend’s maid of honor.

Sarah Hughes, daughter of the groom, was the bridesmaid.

Jeff Dean was his friend’s best man.

Groomsmen were Kevin Hughes II, son of the groom, and Corey Burdeski, son of the bride.

Hayley Burdeski, daughter of the bride, was flower girl.

Amber Hughes, daughter of the groom, was a special helper.

A program of wedding music was provided by Heather Hughes, sister of the groom, vocalist.

The bride and groom and their five children took vows during a unity ceremony and sealed them by pouring sand into a single vase.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the chapel banquet hall.

The couple reside in Asheville.

There will be a party later this summer in Goldsboro.
