MOUNT OLIVE — Crystal Faye Joyner and Frankie Bowden Woodard exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony March 22 at 3 p.m. at Jordan Chapel, with Ray Smeltzer and Jim Turbyfill officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Ronald Gene and Faye Joyner of Newton Grove and the granddaughter of the late John and Agatha Joyner, Lillian Godwin and the late Earl Godwin of Newton Grove.

She graduated from Hobbton High School in 2006 and attended Sampson Community College.

The groom is the son of Allen Franklin and Diane Woodard of Four Oaks and the grandson of the late Frank and Virginia Woodard, Bronnie Thornton and the late Bowden Thornton of Four Oaks.

He graduated from South Johnson High School in 2000. He is employed at TA Loving.

The bride was escorted by her father and the marriage was blessed by her parents.

She wore a formal gown of white satin adorned with re-embroidered lace appliqués at the halter neckline. The empire waistline featured bugle beads and sequins leading down the split apron and A-line skirt. Satin-covered bridal buttons and lace appliqués embellished the semi-cathedral train.

Her headpiece was a tiara of Swarovski crystals, Austrian crystals and rhinestones with a white finger triple veil with crystals and rhinestones along the scalloped edge.

The bride carried a cascading bouquet of orange roses, Gerber daisy pods, cattail and ivy.

Jennifer Britt, sister of the groom, was matron of honor, while Kayla Barefoot, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Adrian Barefoot, Heather Godwin and Amie Godwin, cousins of the bride.

Allen Woodard was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Bobby Woodard ,brother of the groom; Matthew Massey and Mark Massey, cousins of the groom; and Justin Lee, friend of the groom.

Ushers were Rex Herring, cousin of the bride, and Chris Britt, brother-in-law of the groom.

Honorary bridesmaids were Renee Deveney, cousin of the groom, and Ashley Wade and Carlie Wade, cousins of the bride.

Emily Dunn, cousin of the groom, was the miniature bride. Jessie Futrell, cousin of the groom, was the miniature groom.

Ginger Futrell and Robin Brown, cousins of the groom, were flower girls. Christopher Britt, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.

Shane Smith directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Marsha and John West, cousins of the bride. April and Terry Lawson, friends of the couple, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Frankie Smeltzer, pianist, and Rose Masse, aunt of the groom, and Steven Langston, cousin of the bride, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church fellowship hall.

After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple reside in Newton Grove.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal luncheon March 15 at the home of Lillian Godwin hosted by Debbie Barefoot and Cindy Godwin; a lingerie shower March 14 at the home of Jennifer Britt hosted by Ms. Britt; a miscellaneous shower Feb. 24 at Jordan Chapel hosted by the ladies of the church; and a miscellaneous shower Jan. 27 at the future home of the couple hosted by family and friends of the bride.

The groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner March 21 at Jordan Chapel.
