Mrs. Saunders

Elizabeth Derby Stackhouse and John Rudolph Saunders III exchanged vows Dec. 29 at 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. George Harriss Ricks and the Rev. Ryan David Rasmussen officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Bryant Stackhouse of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Mrs. William Jay Derby, the late Mr. Derby John Woods Stackhouse of Morehead City and the late Mrs. Stackhouse.

She is a graduate of Wayne Country Day School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is employed as an elementary school teacher.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rudolph Saunders Jr. of Richmond and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sherrard Gabriel Nott and the late Dr. and Mrs. John Rudolph Saunders.

He is a graduate of Benedictine High School. He attended Louisburg College. He is employed with eTEC Mechanical Corp. in Richmond as a human resource manager.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Katherine Hope Stackhouse of Goldsboro and Susan Dunlap Stackhouse of Raleigh were their sister’s maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Jacqueline Saunders Mayfield, Bridget Saunders Losch and Valerie Saunders Poh of Mechanicsville, Va., sisters of the groom; Eleanor Scott Best of Winston-Salem and Heather Sauls Honeycutt of Dunn, cousins of the bride; Ansley Katherine Holland and Elizabeth Davis Parker of Raleigh; and Rebecca Tayloe Seegars of Goldsboro.

John Rudolph Saunders Jr. was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Frank Boehling Mayfield, Brian Michael Losch and Derek Richard Poh of Mechanicsville, brothers-in-law of the groom; Robert Michael Brown of Bermuda Run; Michael Tucker Handy of Manakin-Sabot, Va., Francis Hancock Nott Jr. of Charlotte and Gabriel Wynter Nott of Mechanicsville, cousins of the groom; Brett Stephen Christian of Mechanicsville; and Francis Raymond Boehling of Richmond.

Greeters were Sallie Mitchell Wahl of Goldsboro and Patrick Michael Mayfield of Mechanicsville, nephew of the groom.

Isabelle Doss directed the ceremony.

A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. Jeremy Thompson, organist; Krista Cala and Angela Jovanovitch, violinists; Paul Randall, trumpeter; and Kristin Shearin, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Goldsboro Country Club.

After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple reside in Richmond.

Events held before the wedding included a wedding day brunch at Walnut Creek Country Club hosted by friends; a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the home of Emmy Mitchell hosted by Mrs. Mitchell, Sarah Ann Parker and Denise Tayloe; an engagement party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Losch in Richmond hosted by friends and family; and an engagement party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Best in Goldsboro.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Dec. 28 at Walnut Creek Country Club.
