Carter - Ballance
PINE KNOLL SHORES — Dana Ballance of Goldsboro and Matthew Carter of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Beach, with Larry Bostian officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Randy Ballance of Pikeville and Wanda Mitchell of Goldsboro, the stepdaughter of Allen Mitchell and the granddaughter of Estelle Ballance and the late Laster Ballance of Goldsboro and the late George and Rebecca Reese of Seven Springs.
She graduated from Rosewood High School in 1995. She is employed as a credit manager at J.J. Haines and Co. Inc.
The groom is the son of Vinson and Linda Carter of Calypso and Jim and Pam Hawley of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Wyatt and Margaret Carter and the late Joe and Beulah Threewitts of Goldsboro.
He graduated from Rosewood High School in 2000 and Wayne Community College in 2002. He is employed as a truck driver at Southco Distributing.
The bride was escorted by her father and stepfather and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white chiffon A-line gown with a corset back that extended into a chapel-length train with beading on the bodice with a double pleated empire band and a sweetheart neckline with halter spaghetti straps.
Her headpiece was a crystal tiara and a white single-layered fingertip veil with crystals.
The bride carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas with lavender roses wrapped in white ribbon.
April Brantham was her friend’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Nichole Hill, sister of the groom, and Sherry Martin and Tina Newell, friends of the bride.
Vinson Carter was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Robbie Ballance, brother of the bride; Matthew Edwards, stepbrother of the groom; and Rex Threewitts, cousin of the groom.
Rylee Jo Meyers, niece of the groom, was flower girl.
Judy Hailey directed the wedding.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Lane Tree Golf Club.
After a wedding trip to Aruba, the couple reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a shower Sept. 8 hosted by John Mark and Nichole Hill, brother-in-law and sister of the groom; a pantry shower Aug. 19 at Bethel Church hosted by Steve and Betty Sasser and Wendy Kelly and Sarah Underwood, family of the bride; and a shower Aug. 16 hosted by J.J. Haines.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at The Channel Marker.
