Jarrett - Whitmore
RALEIGH — Meredith Ashley Whitmore and Richard Willis Jarrett of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 30 at 4:30 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Layton officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Linville Davis and Malvern Edward Whitmore Jr. of Raleigh and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Graham Wall of Raleigh, Mrs. Malvern Edward Whitmore of Henderson and the late Mr. Whitmore.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and Grand Canyon University with a Masters of Education in curriculum and instruction. She is employed as a teacher with Wake County Public Schools.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Willis Jarrett of Goldsboro and the grandson of Mrs. Ben Johnston Thornton of Goldsboro, the late Mr. Thornton, Mrs. Oscar Neal Jarrett of Hayesville and the late Mr. Jarrett.
He is a graduate of Cape Fear Community College. He is employed by Prestonwood Golf and Country Club.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless satin organza gown adorned with silver beadwork and hand-embroidery on the bodice, hemline and cathedral train.
Her headpiece was a tiara of rhinestones and crystals with a fingertip veil.
The bride carried a bouquet of pink vogue, sage green, and cream roses, pink lilies, green hydrangea and white stephanotis.
Kristi Finley Rinaldo of Holly Springs was matron of honor, while Corinne Marie Brylski of Raleigh was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jennifer Jarrett Hoover of Summerville, S.C., sister of the groom, Jennifer Stephens Hock and Amy Christine Howard of Raleigh, Becky Evette Farmer of New York, N.Y., and Kira Seperich Mullis of Parker, Colo.
Tommy Willis Jarrett was his son’s best man.
Ushers were Thomas Neal Jarrett of Kenansville, brother of the groom; Michael Shane Hoover of Summerville, brother–i –law of the groom; Charles Brown Doss, Charles Terry Goss Jr. and Benjamin William Kirby of Raleigh; Nichcolas Ryan Marmo of Cary; and William Lowe Doss of Isle of Palms, S.C.
Olivia Claire Raspberry of Raleigh was flower girl.
Mrs. Chris Bueno Murray Jr. and Nancy Brandle Ritchie directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Abbey Lane Richie and Christopher Donald Johnson of North Hollywood, Calif., cousin of the bride. Wendy Gail Hodges and Neil Edward Johnson of Conway, S.C., cousin of the bride, distributed programs.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wayne Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Dennis Narron greeted guests.
Jenny Leigh Bormann of Raleigh and Diana Davis Bronstein of Clarksburg, Md., stepsister of the bride, were readers.
A program of wedding music was provided by the Rev. William Burkette Raper Jr., organist; Ben Johnston Thornton, cousin of the groom, trumpeter; and Daniel Mark Gaugert, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner and dance reception at Prestonwood Golf and Country Club.
After a wedding trip to Saint Lucia, the couple reside in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon June 29 at the Cardinal Club in Raleigh hosted by Mrs. Tim Brock and Mrs. Malvern Whitmore, grandmother of the bride; a bridal shower June 2 at the home of Mrs. Robert Hock in Raleigh hosted by friends of the bride; a bridal shower May 24 at Conn Elementary School in Raleigh hosted by co-workers of the bride; a bridal shower May 19 in Raleigh hosted by Faye Honeycutt, Janie Honeycutt and Pearl Wall; a dinner party May 6 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. William Mitchell of Goldsboro hosted by friends and family of the groom.
The groom’s parents held an after-rehearsal dinner June 29 at Capital City Club.
