WILSON — Sharon Denise Newsome and Jeremy Brian Hardy of Nashville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 9 at 5 p.m. at First Christian Church, with Pastor Jerry R. Evans Sr. and the Rev. Bobby P. Tyson Jr. officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Danny Carl and Darlene White Newsome of Lucama and the granddaughter of Cassie Brogden Newsome and the late Carl “Sugar Boy” Lomax Newsome of Lucama, Betty Lou Elliott of Selma and the late Willie E. White of Laurinburg.

She graduated from James B. Hunt High School of Wilson and attends Johnston Community College.

The groom is the son of Jon Gleason and Joan Edwards Hardy of Rocky Mount and the grandson of Vivian Marks Hardy and the late Leo Gleason Hardy of Rocky Mount and Roy Willis and Mildred Turner Edwards of Elm City.

He graduated from Southern Nash Senior High School and Nash Community College. He is employed as a sheriff’s deputy at the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory taffeta strapless ball gown with a sweetheart neckline with crystal beads and pearls. It was accented with a lace up corset bodice that extended into a full pick-up skirt and a chapel train embellished with crystal beads, rhinestones and pearls.

Her headpiece was a tiara of Swarovski crystals and rhinestones attached to an ivory one-tier tulle cathedral-length veil with metallic edging and pearls. She also wore a two-tiered ivory illusion fingertip veil enhanced with Swarvoski crystals and a blusher veil.

The bride carried a clutch bouquet of ivory roses, ivory calla lilies, stephanotis and white wax flowers hand wrapped with ivory ribbon with an iridescent edging.

Britni Leigh Barnes of Raleigh and Natali Jo Davis of Sims were maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Rebecca Ann Barnes of Fremont, Amanda Lynn Bissette of Kenly and Megan Kathryn Brown, Ashley Frances Shaffer and Meghan Elizabeth Thomas of Greenville.

Jon Gleason Hardy was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Josh Adam Hardy of Rocky Mount, brother of the groom, Bryan Edward Hough and Ryan William Hough of Raleigh, Brandon Allen Matthews of Nashville, Tyler Madison Mills of Castalia and Jason Carl Newsome of Nashville, brother of the bride.

Ushers were Larry Jason Bryant of Middlesex, Josh Louis Keeny of Bailey and Yates Eddie Moore of Castalia.

Hannah Leigh Collins and Stephanie Logan White of Selma were flower girls. Parker Grant Hayes of Pine Level was ringbearer.

Christie Davis-Davis of Sims and Arlene Dew Boykin of Wilson directed the wedding, assisted by Wendy Massey Francis of Garner and Lisa Hudson Hayes of Pine Level. Presiding at the register was Erika Lynn Boykin of Kenly. Noah Mackenzie Hayes of Pine Level and Stephen Blake White of Selma distributed programs.

Personal assistants to the bride were Sherry Griffin Ussery of Elm City and Shirley Proctor Winders of Kenly.

A program of wedding music was provided by Ron Taylor of Wilson, organist and vocalist; Leigh Anne Pearson of Garner, trumpeter; and Bobby Tyler Hayes of Pine Level and Amanda Caroline Parker of Kenly, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception and dance at the church family life center. Brandon Grant Godwin of Clayton, Kasie Lee Parker of Coates and Mr. and Mrs. Dan E. Hudson of Clayton greeted guests. Sharon English and Ruby Norton of Laurinburg served the wedding cake.

After a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple reside in Nashville.

Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon June 2 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Winders Sr. of Kenly hosted by the Winders, Jana Winders, Pam McCain and Missy Swartzfager; a bachelorette party May 26 hosted by Natali Davis and Britni Barnes; a bachelor party April 28 in Raleigh hosted by friends of the groom; a bridal shower April 22 at the home of Joyce T. Barnes of Wilson hosted by Ms. Barnes, Britni Barnes and Susan Langley; a household shower April 21 at Fremont Free Will Baptist Church hosted by were friends and family of the bride; and a bridal tea Dec. 3 at the home of the bride’s mother hosted by Donna Duke and Wendy Francis.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner June 8 at Something Different in Wilson.
