Mrs. Pliler

Amanda Marie Bell of Pikeville and Michael Elwood Pliler exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 14 at 2 p.m. at Saulston United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rick Ward officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Rickie and Donna Bell of Fremont and the granddaughter of Mary Eileen Bell of Darlington, Pa., Donnie Smith of Fremont and the late Robert Smith Sr.

She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1999 and attends Ashford University of Iowa for a bachelor degree in organizational management with a concentration in psychology. She is employed as an administrative assistant at Raymond James Financial Services.

The groom is the son of Joe and Kathy Pliler of Pikeville and the grandson of Louis and Christine Drew of Bramer, Mo., and Corine Ekern of Belton, Mo.

He attended Eastern Wayne High School. He is employed at AP Exhaust Products.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white imperial satin mermaid gown in mermaid with an empire bodice bordered with beading above a fitted silhouette. It had a godet train that flared from an array of beading at the back.

Her headpiece was a waist-length veil with white satin trim attached to a crystal headband.

The bride carried a bouquet of fresh calla lilies tied with white ribbon accented with pearl pins.

Cassandra Kingsley was her friend’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Jessica Hunter and Buffie Kornegay, friends of the couple, and Brittany Folds, friend of the bride.

Rolyn Belt was his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Jerry Baker, friend of the groom; Chris Bell, brother of the bride; and Mikie Kornegay and Steven Borkowski, friends of the couple.

Kristin Laws, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Robert Pliler and Alexis Pliler, children of the couple, were ringbearers.

Alexis Pliler, daughter of the couple, was the miniature bride. Robert Pliler, son of couple, was the miniature groom.

Tammy Laws, sister of the groom, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kathy Smith, aunt of the bride. Amber Belt, niece of the groom, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Ryan Smith, cousin of the bride, sound technician.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.

After a wedding trip to Wilmington, the couple reside in Pikeville.

Events held before the wedding included a party April 14 at Ham’s; a bachelor party April 7 hosted by Jerry Baker; a bachelorette party April 7 hosted by Cassandra Kingsley; a shower April 1 at the home of Donnie Smith, grandmother, hosted by Ms. Smith, the bride’s mother and Kathy and Beth Smith, aunt of the bride; and a shower March 20 at Ham’s hosted by friends of the bride.

A rehearsal dinner was held April 13 in the church fellowship hall.
