Evans - Sims
ANGIER — Charletta Georgette Sims of Raleigh and Darrin Andre Evans of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. at Barclay Villa, with the Rev. Patsy Faison and Dr. Curtis Lee officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Shirley Faison Sims and the late Charlie George Sims of Dudley and the granddaughter of the late Charlie and Pearlee Sims of Grambling, La., and the late Paul and Muriel Faison of Mount Olive.
She graduated from Winston-Salem State University with an undergraduate degree and Bowie State University with a graduate degree. She is employed as assistant director of student developmental services with the North Carolina Community College System.
The groom is the son of Wilbert Evans Sr. and the late Doris Jean Evans of Dudley and the grandson of Beatrice Bryant of Slingerland, N.Y., and the late Curlie Bryant and the late Hezikal and Susan Jones of Goldsboro.
He graduated from East Carolina University with undergraduate and graduate degrees. He is employed as a language arts teacher with the Wake County Schools.
The bride was escorted by her uncle, Donald Faison, and given in marriage by her mother.
She wore a spaghetti strap two-piece ivory bridal satin gown enhanced with a scalloped neckline and waist. The gown was adorned with beads, crystals and pearls. The bodice and the A-line skirt flowed into a chapel-length train.
She carried a bouquet of calla white lilies with baby’s breath and greenery tied with champagne satin ribbons.
Muriel Wright was her sister’s matron of honor.
Timothy Evans was his brother’s best man.
Ushers were Steven Evans, brother of the groom, Cedrik Faison, cousin of the bride, and Darryl and Marcus Wright, nephews of the bride.
Carole Battle and Shirley Bond directed the wedding, assisted by Juanita King and Karen Bond. Presiding at the register was Nikki Curliss. Cheryl Britton and Cynthia Moore distributed programs.
Precious Borden, Nicole Dozier, Annette Evans, Paula Evans, Stephanie Evans, Sekeyi Johnson, Allison King, Stephanie Powell and Linda Sellers were hostesses.
A program of wedding music was provided by Kathy Webb, pianist, and Patrice Faison and Marie Alston, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Barclay Villa.
The couple reside in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal luncheon at the Cheesecake Factory hosted by Nichole Dozier and Stephanie Powell; a bridal dinner hosted by Nikki Curliss; a bridal shower hosted by Allison King of Raleigh and Juanita King of Goldsboro; and an engagement party hosted by the bride’s mother, Marlene Edwards, Patsy Faison, Hilda Lee and Ann Barnes.
A rehearsal dinner was held Dec. 27 at Roots Front Street Cafe of Lillington.
