Mrs. Monaghan

Haley Elizabeth Bevan of Wilmington and William Patrick Monaghan of Wilmington exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. at New Hope Friends Church, with Bill Garner officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Nigel Terrance Bevan of Vero Beach, Fla., and Mary Lou Bevan of LaGrange and the granddaughter of the late William and Doreen Moss and William Bryant and Irene Rogers of Goldsboro.

She graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2000, and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2006. She is employed as a preschool teacher at Classy Bears.

The groom is the son of William Christopher Patrick Monaghan of Weatherby, Mo., and Mrs. Jeff “Jackie” Hartsell of Albemarle and the grandson of the late Bayne and Nola Monaghan and the late Phyllis Smith.

He graduated from New Hanover High School in 1989. He is employed as a clerk at the Rocky Point Post Office.

The bride wore a a formal gown of white satin with silver accents. The bodice and hemline were adorned with seed beads, sequins and pearls. The full skirt featured box pleating and flowed into a semi-cathedral train.

Her headpiece was a veil of silk illusion attached to a comb of seed beads and pearls.

The bride carried a bouquet of white roses.

Jaime Coble was her sister’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Nicole Cohrs, Caroline Cogdell, Jessica Letchworth, Stacy Weaver, sister of the groom and Kathryn Wessell.

Patrick Monaghan was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Elson Amorao, Kenny Coble, Chris Monaghan, brother of the groom, Lindsey Murray and Chad Sessoms.

Blair Weaver and Kelsey Monaghan, nieces of the groom, were junior bridesmaids.

Allyson Monaghan, sister of the groom, and Meghan Monaghan, niece of the groom, were flower girls. Alex Monaghan, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.

Karen Haithcock directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Cindy Tomazic. Janet Phillips distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Elaine Edwards, pianist, and Patricia Jackson, vocalist.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at Walnut Creek Country Club. Brian and Jessica Daly greeted guests.

After a wedding trip to Cancun, the couple reside in Wilmington.

Events held before the wedding included a shower Dec. 2 at the home of Marty Korschun hosted by Ms. Korschun and Rosemary Kane; a shower Nov. 5 at New Hope Friends Church hosted by ladies of the church; a luncheon shower Nov. 4 at the home of Ann Morse hosted by Ms. Morse, Judy Godwin, Dawn Campbell and Darlene Godwin; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the home of Jodie Brashear hosted by Ms. Brashear, Karen Haithcock, Sherry Cogdell and Miriam Wessell.

A rehearsal dinner was held at New Hope Friends Church family life center.
