Pate - Pernell
HENDERSON — Stephanie Leigh Pernell and David Handley Pate exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Robert Keffer officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Steve and Sandra Pernell of Henderson and the granddaughter of Jack and Rachel Pernell of Henderson and Alps and Sally Ann Van Dyke of Kittrell.
She is a 2004 graduate of Northern Vance High School and attends Wayne Community College for a degree in dental hygiene.
The groom is the son of Junior and Mary Pate of Pikeville and the grandson of Margaret Batten and the late W.G. Batten of Goldsboro and the late Handley and Irene Pate of Pikeville.
He is a graduate of Faith Christian Academy. He is employed as an insurance agent for Woodmen of the World.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white strapless gown. The bodice was embellished with crystals and sequins in a ruched waist draping to the side. The train was chapel-length.
She carried a hand-tied bouquet of miniature green hydrangas and Eskimo and Leonardo roses.
Dana Browning of Goldsboro was her sister’s matron of honor, while Kristie Pernell of Henderson, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kristie Duncan of Henderson, cousin of the bride; Shannon Wade and Megan Franklin of Henderson; and Melissa Lawrence of Athens, Ga.
Junior Pate was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Matthew Pippin of Fremont; Lee Conyers of Goldsboro, nephew of the groom; Trey Mooring of Goldsboro, brother-in-law of the bride; and Bobby Chorba of Henderson, cousin of the bride.
Joelle Pernell of Henderson, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.
Alyssa, Camden and Maecy Ross, cousins of the bride, were flower girls. Clayton Jarrad of Goldsboro, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Jerri Bellany directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and greeting guests were Brittany Pernell and Casey Duncan of Henderson, cousins of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by the North Carolina Strings Quartet; Brenda Conyers of Goldsboro, sister of the groom, pianist; Nate Marriner of Cary, guitarist; and Jerri Bellamy of Colorado Springs, Colo., vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church family life center.
After a wedding cruise to the Caribbean, the couple reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal brunch Nov. 3 at the home of Shannon Wade hosted by Jane Duncan, Ms. Wade and Faye Pulley; a lingerie shower Oct. 20 at the home of Shannon Wade hosted by Dana Browning and Ms. Wade; a bridal shower Sept. 30 at the home of Brenda Conyers hosted by the groom’s family and friends; and a bridal shower Sept. 23 at Union Chapel Methodist Church hosted by family and friends.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Nov. 2 at their home.
