GRANTHAM — Sarah Dawn Kornegay and Allen Ray Darden exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. at Falling Creek United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Glenn McCullen officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Roger and Carolyn Kornegay of Grantham and the granddaughter of Frances Jackson, the late George Bryan Stevens and the late Milford and Ruth Kornegay of Grantham.

She is a 2003 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a graduate of Pitt Community College with a diploma in cosmetology. She is employed as a hairstylist with Self Expressions Salon.

The groom is the son of Robert and Kay Darden of Grantham, the grandson of Ray and Lola Mae Brock and the late Mr. and Mrs. Faison Darden of Grantham and the great-grandson of Vonnie Brock.

He graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 2003. He is self-employed with Darden and Son Construction.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless satin A-line gown with a beaded overlay and a split front with a sweep train.

Her headpiece was a waist-length scalloped veil attached to a crystal tiara.

The bride carried a hand cluster of flame calla lilies, confetti roses and yellow and orange lilies.

Stacey Kornegay Kelley served as her sister’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Angela McLamb of Rosewood and Brittany Craig and Crystal Gurley of Grantham.

Robert Darden was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Mike McLamb of Rosewood and Howard Brock and Scott Moody of Grantham.

Ushers were William Smith, cousin of the bride, and Jesse Kelley, brother-in-law of the bride.

Cody Stevens, cousin of the bride, was the reader.

Frances Smith, aunt of the groom, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Holly Strickland, friend of the couple. Katie Stevens, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Mike Overman.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall. Margaret Staley, aunt of the bride, served the four-tiered wedding cake adorned with ribbon and fall flowers. Cindy Stevens, aunt of the bride, poured punch.

After a wedding cruise to the Bahamas, the couple reside in Grantham.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal luncheon Sept. 16 at the Steak Barn hosted by Stacey Kelley, sister of the bride; a miscellaneous shower Sept. 10 at Falling Creek United Methodist Church fellowship hall hosted by the United Methodist Women; a lingerie shower Sept. 9 at the home of Linda Strickland hosted by Jamie Smith and Holly and Lindsay Strickland; and a miscellaneous shower Aug. 27 at the home of the groom’s mother hosted by the groom’s mother and Angela McLamb, sister of the groom.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Falling Creek Church fellowship hall.
