DURHAM — Evelyn Nicole Minnish of Durham and Christopher Brian Currie of Durham exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church, with the Rev. Hugh O’Shields officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Joseph Roy Stancil of Westminster, S.C., and Edna Garris Stancil of Seven Springs and the granddaughter of Marie Pauline Chatlos and the late Albert Austin Chatlos of Richland, S.C., and the late Allen Tank and Mary Price Garris of Seven Springs.

She is a 2003 graduate of North Carolina State University with degrees in psychology and criminology. She is employed as a breast cancer research associate at Social and Scientific Systems.

The groom is the son of Robert Duncan Currie Jr. and Linda Glenn Currie of Wilmington and the grandson of Iris Currie, the late Robert Duncan Currie Sr., Mary Helen Glenn and the late Ralph Augustus Glenn of Durham.

He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1996 with a degree in zoology and a minor in genetics and business management. He is employed as a biologist at Piedmont Research Center.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory organza A-line gown with green beading and a sage ribbon sash. It featured a multipanel petal skirt and chapel train. She also wore a pearl tiara with rhinestone flowers and green metallic leaves.

Her veil was fingertip-length with a bugle bead edge.

The bride carried a European-style bouquet of long stemmed calla lilies.

Amy Urzi served as her friend’s matron of honor, while Brookie Ann Stancil, niece of the bride, was maid of honor.

Joy Vaughn, friend of the bride, was the bridesmaid.

Robert Duncan Currie Jr., was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Paul Stancil, brother of the bride, and Craig Johnson, friend of the groom.

Ushers were Timothy Glenn, uncle of the groom, and Derek Lee Bradley, nephew of the bride.

Morgan Stancil, niece of the bride and Caroline Guthrie, friend of the groom, were junior bridesmaids.

Sarah Grace Guthrie, friend of the groom, was flower girl.

Elaine Foster, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Becki Grandstaff, cousin of the groom.

A program of wedding music was provided by Steve Parrott, friend of the groom, vocalist, and Judy Parrott, friend of groom, organist.

Following the ceremony, Helen Glenn held a reception was held at the church fellowship hall. Pam Eccles, aunt of the groom, and Kristi Ritch, aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake. Debbie Goss and Linda Glenn, aunts of the groom, poured punch.

After a wedding trip to Scotland and Ireland, the couple reside in Durham.

Events held before the wedding included a bride-groom shower at First Presbyterian Church of Richland hosted by Marie Chatlos, Elaine Foster, Linda Stancil and Kristi Ritch and a bridal shower at Shearon Arces Free Will Baptist Church of Durham hosted by Debbie Goss, Jennifer Detweiler and Iris Currie.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Oct. 20 at the Radisson of Durham.
