HAMLET — Laura Elizabeth Warnock of Kinston and Michael Gordon Parks exchanged vows in a single-ring ceremony Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry Higgins officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Greg Warnock and Mary Alice Warnock of Hamlet and the granddaughter of Herman and Evelyn Warnock and the late John and Blance Boggan of Hamlet.

She is a 2001 graduate of Richmond Senior High School and a 2006 graduate of East Carolina University. She is employed at Northwest Elementary School of Kinston.

The groom is the son of Jimmy and Janice Parks of LaGrange and the grandson of Gordon and Louise Parks of LaGrange, Jean Stutts of Norman and the late Glenn Stutts of Ellerbe.

He graduated from North Lenoir High School in 1998, North Carolina State University in 2002 and East Carolina University in 2003 with a master’s degree in business. He is employed at the United States Department of Agriculture in Kinston.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless gown of ice pink Italian satin with a bateau neckline and a fitted princess bodice. Hand-beaded appliqués adorned the bodice. Seed pearls and Austrian crystals decorated the appliqués. The back bodice had a V and continued the theme of pearls and crystals. From the back skirt flowed trails of silver silk embroidery edged in crystals. Embroidery finished the cathedral train.

The headpiece was a crystal tiara. Her single-layered veil of matching silk illusion edged in silver silk embroidery was attached to a crystal tiara and flowed to a waltz-length.

Sarah Sriratanakoul of Hamlet served as her sister’s matron of honor, while Mary Martha Warnock of Hamlet, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Alli Morey of Manheim, Pa., Ella Edwards of Raleigh, and Tina Overbee of Greensboro, cousin of the groom.

Jimmy Parks was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Stephen Parks of Raleigh, brother of the groom, Heith Harrison of Greenville, Brandon Houghton of Kinston and Brandon Foss and Justin Croom of LaGrange.

Ushers were Nick Sriratanakoul of Hamlet and Dan McInnis of Norman.

Kaiyah Sriratanakoul and Kalei Sriratanakoul, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Drew Kidder was ringbearer.

Jane Clark and Barbara Cato directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jennifer Yates. Ashleigh Terry distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Nell Brown, pianist, and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Ham, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at the Highlands of Laurinburg.

After a wedding trip to Mazatlan, Mexico, the couple will reside in Kinston.

Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous bridal shower Oct. 8 hosted by the adult Sunday school class of First United Methodist Church of Hamlet; a couples cookout Oct. 7 hosted by Mrs. Pete Wheeler, Emily Kidder, Hope Pemberton, Lori Ayers, Stacy Bartlett and Cathey Thomas of Hamlet, friends of the bride’s parents; a cookout Sept. 16 hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Danny McInnis of Norman, uncle and aunt of the groom; a holiday shower Sept. 9 in Rockingham hosted by Linda Hawkins, Becky Hawkins, Kelly Sears, Susy Smith and Mary Susan Smith; a miscellaneous bridal shower Aug. 20 at Bethel United Methodist Church of LaGrange hosted by Jackie Overbee and the women of Bethel Church; and a celebration Aug. 19 at LaGrange Arts Council hosted by the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Roberson, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Suggs, Bobbie Parks and Jesse Parks.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
