Foster - Smith
Tanikia Michelle Smith and Darrell Eugene Foster exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 2 at 5 p.m. at Goldsboro-Raleigh District Assembly, with Bishop Alton Smith officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Sherwood and Cynthia Smith of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late James Sr. and Argie Smith and the late Wannamaker and Elma Smith of Goldsboro.
She is a graduate of Goldsboro High School and North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse.
The groom is the son of Rachel Hinnant of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Odessa Hinnant, the late Martha Best and the late Felix Lynn.
He graduated from Goldsboro High School. He is employed with TSA Homeland Security and serves in the Army National Guard Reserves.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
The bride wore a formal gown of ivory satin enhanced with a halter neckline. The fitted bodice and full skirt were adorned with lace motifs, pearls and sequins. The detachable extended imperial train was embellished with rosettes, lace motifs, pearls, sequins and embroidery.
Her rhinestone tiara comb was accented with a two-tiered veil of silk illusion with scattered stardust trimmed with silver threading.
The bride carried a cascading bouquet of cream colored roses, baby’s breath and chocolate and turquoise tully accented with miniature pinecones and Swarovski crystals with a band of chocolate ribbon secured with a row of pearl pins.
Portia Smith served her cousin as matron of honor, while Terri Smith, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kaja Brewton, Shawanda Gills and Kacia Peacock, friends of the bride, and Jaleisa Smith, cousin of the bride.
Warren Durham was his friend’s best man.
Groomsmen were Kwasi Smith, brother of the bride, and Bobby R. Richardson, William Ingram, Steven Anthony and Julian White, friends of the groom.
Ushers were Roderick Reid and Reggie Reid, cousins of the bride, and James Smith Sr., uncle of the bride.
Gary Foster Jr., nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Aaron Smith Jr., cousin of the bride, was bell ringer.
Hostesses were Ruthie Vaughn, Myra Brown, Angelia Mitchell, Jennifer Walker, Tabitha Strong and Sandra Springs, friends of the bride.
Jeffrey Smith, uncle of the bride, and Roberta Moore, friend of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Tabitha Strong. Sandra Springs and Jennifer Walker distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Dominic Whitley, friend of the bride, and Brandi Smith, cousin of the bride, Alfonso Jones, friend of the bride, and Jeffrey Smith, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lane Tree Country Club. Shaleta Smith and Shareta Smith, cousins of the bride, attended the RSVP table. Myra Brown, Angelia Mitchell and Ruthie Vaughn, friends of the bride, greeted guests. Shelby Hines, friend of the bride, attended the gift table.
After a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple reside in Charlotte.
Events held before the wedding included a surprise shower Aug. 26 hosted by Angie Wilson, Damica Jackson, Ruthie Vaughn and Angelia Mitchell and a shower Aug. 22 hosted by co-workers.
Deloris Parks and April Turner, friends of the bride, held a rehearsal dinner Sept. 1 at the home of the bride’s parents.
