LAGRANGE — Shirleane Long and Marvin Tyrone Smith of Knightdale exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 15 at 2 p.m. at Saints Delight United Holy Church, with Pastor Huger D. Ford and Pastor Shirley Cox officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Joseph and Shirley Cox of Goldsboro.

She is a 1979 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School.

The groom is the son of the late Donald Bell and Lillian Bell of Edwards.

He graduated from Pamlico High School in 1979.

The bride was escorted by her sons, Eric Long and Vernon Long Jr., and her father.

She wore a white strapless apple trim satin A-line and apple lace-up back sweep train gown.

Her apple garden bouquet tiara was accented with crystal and pearl with a cathedral veil with an apple-colored satin corded edge.

The bride carried a bouquet of white roses with baby’s breath and ivy wrapped in white silk with a pearl sleeve.

Geraldine Ford of Hampton, Va., served her sister as matron of honor, while Patricia Gail Wade of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Lynette Chapman, Geanetta Ford, Myra Smith and Ivia Thomas-Aiken.

Tyrone Freeman served as best man.

Groomsmen were Vernon Long Jr. Eric Long, Danny McCab, Terry Cox and Albert Whitfield.

Lashanta Long, daughter of the bride, was the miniature bride.

Tyshell Smith, Shanetta Hobbs and Shanita Hobbs were junior bridesmaids.

Shykerah Wade was flower girl. Tymire Whitfield was ringbearer.

Deronda N. Butts-Cox directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Danita Wade.

Katrina Reynolds of Goldsboro was the wedding dancer.

A program of wedding music was provided by Sharon Hobbs, Lisa Wade and Shirley Cox accompanied by Lemon Parks.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Deronda N. Butts-Cox was mistress of ceremonies.

After a wedding trip to Nassau, Bahamas, the couple reside in Knightdale.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower at Spring Arbor in Raleigh hosted by Ann Southerland.
