Hemenway - Morin
BLACK MOUNTAIN — Deserae Renee Morin of Asheville and Christopher Thomas Hemenway of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 22 at 4 p.m. at Lake Eden, with the Rev. John Qualmann officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jimmie Deaton and Renee Hamel of Fairview and the granddaughter of Peter and Laura Morin of Swanton, Vt., and Francis Hamel and the late Steven Hamel of Asheville.
She is a 2006 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in environmental studies and a minor in parks and recreation.
The groom is the son of Kenneth and Peggy Hemenway of Goldsboro and the grandson of Robert and Ollie Hemenway White, Claiborne and Verna Hill of Garner and the late Neal G. Hill of Goldsboro.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2005 with a degree in business administration and a concentration in management information systems.
Samantha Honeycutt of Asheville served her friend as matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Caitie Brown of Asheville and Candice Munao of Wilmington, friends of the bride.
Kenneth Hemenway served as his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Matthew Hemenway, brother of the groom and Phillip Maxwell of Greensboro, friend of the groom.
Amanda Hamel, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Presiding at the register were Wendy Stancil of Hendersonville, cousin of the groom, and Jason Futrell of New York, friend of the couple.
After a wedding trip to Walt Disney World, the couple reside in Wilmington.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lake Eden.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower June 24 in Fairview hosted by Samantha Honeycutt and Renee Hamel and a shower July 8 in Wilmington hosted by Candice Munao.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Monte Vista Hotel in Black Mountain.
