Kathy Lynn Hicks became the bride of David Michael Bennett May 20 at 2 p.m.

The Rev. David Jackson officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Freedom Baptist Church.

Barbara S. Hicks and Donald Hicks of Goldsboro are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late Blanche Strickland, the late Larry Strickland, the late Juanita Hicks and the late Wesley Hicks.

Bess Bennett and the late C.D. Bennett of Goldsboro are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Minnie Bennett, the late Frank Bennett, the late Etta Stansbury and the late James Stansbury.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white milano satin and Alencon lace with a portrait neckline and short sleeves embellished with pearls, sequins and lace. Beaded lace adorned the Basque bodice. Pearls, sequins and lace appliqués accented the full skirt. The back bodice was interwoven with beaded lace enhanced with an open heart with draped pearls. Pearls, sequins and lace motifs cascaded down the cathedral train. A scalloped lace hemline encircled the gown.

For her headpiece, she chose a two-tiered veil embellished with pearls and sequins. She carried whites roses with baby’s breath.

Donna Sullivan, sister, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Linda Coston, sister, and Angie Proctor, sister of the groom.

Chris Wise was best man. Ushers were Bobby Peele, Mike Caudle, Thomas Rouse, Dan Meeler, Art Granillo and Jeff Faison.

Angie Proctor directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Karen Peele. Mrs. Ira Edwards distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Kent Bizzell of Princeton, pianist, and Donna Sullivan and Curtis Piner, vocalists.

The couple will take a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn.

The bride is a 1990 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. She was employed as a cashier with Hill’s Beef and Pork Center.

The groom graduated from Goldsboro Christian School in 1985 and Mount Olive College in 1989. He is employed as a driver for United Parcel Service.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Gloria Thompson poured punch. Ann Thompson served the wedding cake.

A rehearsal dinner was held May 19 at Lane Tree Golf Course.

On May 6, family held a bridal shower.

Freedom Baptist Church held a bridal shower April 9.

On April 8, mothers and sisters held a bridal shower in Raleigh.
