Kinder - Blackwelder
GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND — Meredith Ann Blackwelder and Michael Alan Kinder were married Saturday, April 22, at 5 p.m., at Our Lucaya Lanai Lawn and Gardens.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Blackwelder of Mount Olive. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ray Scarborough and the late Mr. Scarborough of Mount Olive and Mrs. W.R. Blackwelder and the late Mr. Blackwelder of Hillsborough.
Parents of the groom are retired Col. and Mrs. Steve Kinder of Fayetteville. He is the grandson of Mrs. Stanley Przygoda and the late Mr. Przygoda of Clermont, Fla., and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Kinder of Turnersville, N.J.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.
Tobie Warrick Girard of Stantonsburg was matron of honor.
Michael Sobb of Durham was best man.
After a wedding trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the couple is residing in Raleigh.
The bride is a 1992 graduate of Southern Wayne High School, a 1996 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of arts degree in English and a 1998 graduate of North Carolina State University with a graduate degree in technical communication. She is employed as a documentation specialist with SAS Institute Inc. of Cary.
The groom graduated from Frankfurt American High School in Germany in 1990 and Eastern Kentucky University in 1994 with a bachelor of arts degree in public relations. He is employed as a strategic account manager with Corporate Express of Denver, Colo.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner and dance reception at Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort’s great lawn and terrace.
On April 21, the groom’s parents held a dinner at Crescent Pool of Our Lucaya Beach.
A bridal shower was held April 9 at First Baptist Church of Mount Olive.
On April 1, friends of the bride held a bachelorette dinner at Porter’s Restaurant of Raleigh.
Mrs. Jonathan Girard, Mrs. Garrett Blackwelder, Mrs. Rick Marshall and Christy Spain held a shower April 2 at the Spain home in Raleigh.
The bride’s parents held an engagement party Nov. 11 at Maggiano’s Little Italy of Durham.
A bachelor party was held at the NCAA regional basketball tournament in Greensboro and Heritage Golf Club of Wake Forest.
Mrs. David Shelton, Mrs. Angelo SanFratello, Mrs. Kevin Dilda and Mrs. Larry Dean held a luncheon at the Shelton home.
Mrs. John Barfield and Dr. and Mrs. Opey Jeanes held a dinner party at Southern Exposure.
Co-workers of the bride held a floating wedding party at their homes in Raleigh and Cary.
