APEX — Amanda Marie Arthur became the wife of Joshua James Dugan in a double-ring ceremony on Friday, March 10.

President James Stephens officiated at the ceremony at the Raleigh North Carolina Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Parents of the bride are Leon and Jackie Arthur of Mount Olive. She is the granddaughter of Edna C. Turner of Mount Olive, the late William H. Turner, Harold B. Arthur of Goldsboro and the late Marie G. Arthur.

John and Kathy Dugan of Cherokee are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Joan Hyatt and Frank Hyatt of Bryson City and the late James and Jessie Dugan of Cherokee and the great-grandson of Oneita Turpin of Whittier.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore her mother’s gown of candlelight satin with an empire bodice accentuated with Venetian lace and lantern sleeves. Venetian lace highlights graced the train.

For her headpiece, she chose a two-tiered veil of tulle. She carried a bouquet of Virginia roses, light pink lilies, pink asters and gypsophila.

Amy Arthur of Buies Creek, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Rebekah Arthur of Durham, sister of the bride, was the attendant.

Jordan Dugan was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Brandon Hyatt of Bryson City, cousin of the groom, and Kit Arthur of Mount Olive, brother of the bride.

Shelby Hyatt and Sidney Call, cousins of the groom, were flower girls. Hunter Call, cousin of the groom, was ringbearer.

After a wedding trip to the Appalachian Mountains and Washington D.C., the couple is residing in Chapel Hill.

The bride is a 2002 graduate from East Carolina University with a degree in business administration and a 2005 graduate of Campbell University with a master’s degree in trust and investment management. She is employed with Sun Trust of Durham as a financial services advisor.

The groom graduated from Western Carolina University in 2005. He attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s family held a reception at the Institute of Religion building of Chapel Hill. Carroll and Sharon Turner of Mount Olive, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Catherine Carter, great-aunt of the bride, poured punch. Bobbie Jean Dixon, friend of the bride, served the wedding cake. Leann Arthur, sister-in-law of the bride, presided at the registry.

On March 11, the groom’s family held a celebration at Best Western of Cherokee.

The groom’s mother and other family members held a bridal shower Feb. 25 in Cherokee.

The bride’s mother and Leann Arthur, sister-in-law of the bride, held a miscellaneous shower at the home of the bride’s mother Feb. 18.

Rebekah and Amy Arthur held a shower Feb. 11 in Durham.
