Valaree Ward Williams became the wife of James H. Hall Jr. Saturday, Oct. 29, at 3 p.m.

Pastor Daniel Uzzell officiated at the double-ring ceremony at St. Mark Church of Christ.

Parents of the bride are Irene Wall Ward of Goldsboro and the late Wilbert Lee Ward Sr.

The late James and Minnie H. Hall of Goldsboro are parents of the groom.

Presented in marriage in honor of her deceased father and escorted by her brother, Wilbert Ward Jr., and her son, Terrance Williams, the bride wore an ivory candlelight straight formal gown with a sweetheart neckline of satin and georgette fabric. The chapel-length train was embellished with sequins pearls and seed pearls.

For her headpiece, she chose a rhinestone tiara with an elbow-length veil of silk accented with pearls and finished with two-tiered scalloped edging. She carried a bouquet of calla lilies.

Keedah Williams, daughter of the bride, was maid of honor.

William Hall of Raleigh was his brother’s best man. Ushers were Anthony Rhodes of Clayton, Robert Mack of Milton and James Best and James Flowers of Goldsboro.

Alexsie Ward of Goldsboro and Jaylah Codgell of Raleigh, friend of the bride, were flower girls. Torique Harris of Durham, great nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.

Broom carrier was Elijah Briscoe of Raleigh, grandson of the bride.

In honor of his parents, Jacquelyn Hall of Greensboro, daughter of the groom, and Robert Jackson, Raleigh, brother of the groom, solidified the ancestral connection.

India Vaughn-Rhodes of Clayton directed the wedding.

A program of wedding music was provided by Milton Sherard Sr. of Maryland, Troy Dye of Raleigh, Percy Royall III, Justine Body and Donson Brown of Goldsboro.

The bride is a 1972 graduate of Goldsboro High School. She is employed with the Department of Defense at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

The groom graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1972 and North Carolina A&T State University with a bachelor of science degree. He is employed with Tyco Electronics of Greensboro.

Following the ceremony, the couple held a reception at Lane Tree Golf Club. Hostesses were Sharon Hightower, Sharonda Jones, Judy Graham Cox, Ashley Graham, Monica Talley, Jean Ward, Clifteene Shields and Octavia Muhammad. Arlene Graham Miller of Raleigh was director.

On Oct. 27, the bride’s daughter held a surprise shower at Logan’s.

Coworkers of the bride held a bridal shower Oct. 19 at Outback.
