Cristal York Malcolm and Charles Brooks Marriner Jr. pledged their wedding vows Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.

The Rev. Blane Smith officiated at the double-ring waterfront ceremony at Sleepy Creek Club.

Parents of the bride are Joan York and the late James Ervin York of Dudley.

Brooks and Joann Marriner of Dudley are parents of the groom.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by Parker Parrott, friend, the bride wore a white formal gown with a halter neckline enhanced with a plunge with rhinestones and pearls. The back bodice had a keyhole back. The fitted bodice cascaded into a mermaid skirt with an inset of tulle beaded with bugle beads and sequins that flowed into a sweep train.

Parker Parrott, friend of the groom, was the usher.

Abby Finkler, niece of the bride, was flower girl.

Dawn Gardner, friend of the bride, directed the wedding. Jean Sutton, friend of the couple, was the planner.

Presiding at the register and greeting guests were Jerry and Ricky Whitley, brother-in-law and sister of the bride.

Distributing programs and roses were Brandy and Brett Marriner, children of the groom.

A program of wedding music was provided by Frank Brown, friend of the couple.

After a wedding trip to the Dominican Republic, the couple is residing in Dudley.

The bride is a 1988 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 1992 graduate of Wayne Community College. She is employed as an ophthalmic technician with Waynesborough Oph-thalmology.

The groom graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1979 and Mount Olive College in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He is employed with Goldsboro Milling Co.

Following the ceremony, the couple held a dance reception at Sleepy Creek Clubhouse.

On Sept. 30, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Steak Barn.

Samone Lancaster, Trish Gilliken and Stephanie Lutz, friends of the bride, held a pantry shower Sept. 25.

On Sept. 16, co-workers and friends of the bride held a bachelorette weekend in Atlantic Beach.

Co-workers of the bride held a lingerie shower Aug. 28 at the home of Beth Painter.

On Aug. 26, friends and family of the couple held an engagement party at Sleepy Creek Clubhouse.
