Sara Elizabeth Kestler and Benjamin Randall Strickland exchanged promises Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.

The Rev. George F. Strickland officiated at the double-ring ceremony at United in Christ Church.

The bride is the daughter of Gloria Kestler and Joe and Karen Kestler of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Francis Kestler, the late Otis Kestler and D.C. and Nancy Dabbs of High Point.

Parents of the groom are George and Linda Strickland of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Evelyn Ham and the late Leslie Ray Ham of Goldsboro and Ruby Strickland and the late George B. Strickland of Mount Olive.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore her mother’s wedding dress with a Victorian neckline and a laced pearl bodice and cap sleeves. The train was cathedral.

For her headpiece, she chose a single-layered fingertip-length veil with lace and pearl appliqués. She carried red and white roses.

Stacey Robinson, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Aaren Smith, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Megan Ginn, friend of the bride, and Denise Bittner, sister of the groom, were bridesmaids.

Micah Hasty of Lynchburg, Va., was his friend’s best man. Groomsmen were Brooks Rogers, cousin of the groom, and Travis Smith and David Fowler, friends of the groom. Ushers were Austin Kestler, brother of the bride; Thomas Henry, stepbrother of the bride; and Steven Sutton, friend of the groom.

Jocelyn Pysar, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Sawyer Smith was ring bearer.

Chenoa Pysar, sister of the groom, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Marianne Cooke, friend of the bride. David Bittner, nephew of the groom, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Kent Bizzell, pianist.

After a wedding trip to the beach, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

The bride is a 2003 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School. She attends Wayne Community College for an associate’s degree in accounting.

The groom graduated from Spring Creek High School in 2003. He attends Wayne Community College for a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Sherry Rogers and Hope Ham, aunts of the groom, served the wedding cake and poured punch.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Oct. 7 at United in Christ Church.
