Mrs. Wilson

Lori Ann Smith and James Michael Wilson were united in marriage Saturday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Kevin Drake officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Pinkney Baptist Church.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Ray Smith of Pikeville. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clinnon Mitchell and the late Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Smith.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Wilson of Alabama are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Corrine Persson, the late Lloyd Persson and the late I.D and Ruby Wilson.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white embroidered A-line chiffon and Schiffli lace gown with beaded spaghetti straps. The back featured satin bridal buttons.

For her headpiece, she chose a Swarovski crystal and pearl tiara attached to a double-tiered flowing semi-cathedral train of silk illusion with sequined edging.

Crystal Hinson, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Myra Boren, friend of the bride, and Holly Aycock, cousin of the bride.

Gary Wilson was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Ashley Cooper, friend of the groom, and Ryan Smith and Brad Smith, brothers of the bride.

Wanita Harrell directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Elizabeth Peele, cousin of the bride. Kim Nasser, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Tara Lane, pianist, and Marcy Lamm and Steve Gardner, vocalists.

After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple is residing in Pikeville.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2005 graduate of Wayne Community College with a degree in medical office administration. She is employed at Christian Care Academy.

The groom graduated from James Sprunt Community College. He is a firefighter with Pikeville Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department and an EMT with Fremont Volunteer Rescue and EMS. He is employed as a maintenance technician with Goldsboro Housing Authority.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall. Michael and Judy Aycock, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Jackie Peele, Jean Kauff and Janet Skelton, aunts of the bride, served the wedding cake and poured punch.

On Aug. 12, Ryan and Brad Smith, brothers of the bride, held a dinner party at Olive Garden of Greenville.

On July 17, Judy Aycock, Jackie Peele, Janet Skelton, Jean Kauff, Kim Nasser, Holly Aycock and Marcy Lamm held a floating bridal shower at Pinkney Church fellowship hall.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Pinkney Church fellowship hall. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
