Jaime Leigh Malpass and James Madison Myers III were united in holy matrimony Saturday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m.

The Rev. Debbie Marshall officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Kent Malpass. She is the granddaughter of Evelyn Swinson Malpass and the late Gordon Henderson Malpass of Faison and Flora Ann Watson of Mount Olive and the late Charles Edward Watson.

Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Everrett Parker “Pete” Blanton of Wallace and James Madison Myers Jr. of Cary. He is the grandson of Betty Otstot Smith of Winterville, the late James Edwin Smith of Greenville and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Madison Myers of Carolina Beach.

Given in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin with a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice was embroidered and adorned with bugle beads that cascaded down the front and back. The back bodice was accented with satin-covered bridal buttons and flowed into a chapel train. She carried a handkerchief given to her by the groom’s brother, Mark Myers.

For her headpiece, she chose a tiara accented with rhinestones that extended into a veil of silk illusion. She carried a bouquet of calla lilies, blue hydrangeas and cascading ivy.

Amy Malpass of Mount Olive, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Kim Tyndall of Calypso, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Megan Clarke of Faison and Christel Mozingo of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride.

Everrett Parker Blanton was his stepson’s best man. Groomsmen were Mark Edwin Myers of Wallace, brother of the groom; Christopher Michael Malpass of Mount Olive, brother of the bride; and Thomas F. Brown of Mount Olive and Thomas W. Bailey of Pikeville, friends of the groom.

Brooke Malpass and Taylor Malpass of Mount Olive, nieces of the bride, were junior bridesmaids.

Chelsea Malpass of Mount Olive, niece of the bride, was flower girl.

Madison Leigh Myers of Mount Olive, daughter of the couple, was the miniature bride.

Mrs. Clayton Webber of Mount Olive, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the resister was Karen Maxwell of Fayetteville, cousin of the bride. Laura Rhodes of Winterville, cousin of the groom, distributed programs.

Clayton Webber, uncle of the bride, was bell ringer.

A program of wedding music was provided by Alan Malpass; Norman Taflinger, bagpiper; and Randy Cashwell, friend of the bride, vocalist.

After a wedding cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, the couple will reside in Mount Olive.

The bride is a 1998 graduate of North Duplin High School and a 2003 graduate of Mount Olive College. She is employed with Mount Olive College.

The groom graduated from Wallace-Rose Hill High School in 1996 and from James Sprunt Community College in 2000. He is employed as a sergeant with the Mount Olive Police Department.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall. Mr. and Mrs. Joel Ray Clarke of Faison, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. David Maxwell of Fayetteville, uncle of the bride, made introductions. Lisa Maxwell of Fayetteville and Vickie Williams of Jonesboro, Ga., aunts of the bride, served the wedding cake. Karen Brock, aunt of the groom, and Phyllis Ostheim, cousin of the bride, poured punch. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Rhodes of Winterville, uncle and aunt of the groom, said good-byes.

On Sept. 17, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the American Legion building of Mount Olive. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.

Mrs. Francis Townsend, Mrs. Archie Carter, Mrs. Knott Teachey, Mrs. Henry Campbell and Sandra Worsley, friends of the groom, held a bridal brunch Sept. 17 at the Blanton home.

On Sept. 17, a brunch was held at Calypso Presbyterian Church.

The bride’s mother and Evelyn Malpass, grandmother of the bride, held a bridesmaids’ luncheon Sept. 10 at Nino’s Italian Restaurant. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.

On Aug. 27, a pool party and pig cookout was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Ray Clarke, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Magen and Brittany, cousins of the bride.

Lisa Maxwell and Vickie Williams, aunts of the bride, held a miscellaneous bridal shower Aug. 21 at Stanford Presbyterian Church of Beautancus.

The maid of honor, matron of honor and bridesmaids held a bachelorette weekend Aug. 20 in Wilmington.

On Aug. 14, friends of the groom’s family held a home and lawn party at Wallace United Methodist Church.

Deb Scheiber, Melinda and Brianne, Linda Burroughs, Jemma Inwalle, Donna Davis and Janet Walker held a miscellaneous shower Aug. 7 in Wallace.

On July 30, a cookout was held at the Fussell home in Wallace.
