WILMINGTON — Shelly Gwynn Williams of Wilmington and Joseph Landon Bordeaux pledged their vows Aug. 6 at 2 p.m.

Anthony Gurganus officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Graystone Inn.

The bride is the daughter of John and Regenia Sykes Bell of Stella. She is the granddaughter of Charles and Dorothy Sykes, Virginia Brinson Williams Roberts and the late J.T. Williams of Mount Olive.

Parents of the groom are Dlanne Russ Rising and Joseph Bennett and Taressa Bordeaux of Elizabethtown. He is the grandson of the late Henry and Margaret Russ, Mary W. Bordeaux and the late James Bordeaux of Elizabethtown.

Escorted by her grandfather, the bride wore a dress of ivory silk satin with accent beads and crystals hand-embroidered in swirl and flower motifs on the bodice and cap sleeves and along the hemline of the semi-cathedral train.

For her headpiece, she chose a fingertip veil of silk illusion trimmed with crystals. She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, miniature calla lilies, orchids, roses and tulips.

Ashley Woolwine of Wilmington was matron of honor. Paula Eggleston of Scottsdale, Ariz., was maid of honor.

Joseph Bordeaux was his son’s best man. Steve Bedsole of Elizabethtown, brother of the groom, was the groomsman.

Tammy Vail, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Mr. and Mrs. Marion Sykes, uncle and aunt of the bride.

A program of wedding music was provided by Steele Sasser, pianist, and Vida Potter of Emerald Isle and Four on the Isle featuring the bride’s mother, vocalists.

After a wedding trip to the Mayan Riviera, Mexico, the couple will reside in Elizabethtown.

The bride attended Wayne Country Day School. She is a graduate of Southern Wayne High School and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is employed as a pharmaceutical sales representative with Abbott Laboratories.

The groom graduated from Tar Heel High School and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He is employed as an agent with CLC Financial Services of Elizabethtown.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Graystone Inn.

The couple held an after-the-vows party at Reel Cafe of Wilmington.
