Valorie Lynn Greenfield and Robert Lee Kornegay Jr. of Goldsboro were wed June 18 at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Larry M. Johnson officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Minnie L. Bell and the late Johnny Warren are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late Kirby and Sarah Lewis and Joseph Warren.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Kornegay Sr. He is the grandson of Christine Kornegay, the late Henry Kornegay and the late Thelma Locklear.

Given in marriage by her mother and escorted by her brother, the Rev. Harold O. Warren, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin with a halter neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with re-embroidered Alencon, lace and pearls adorned with beaded lace motifs that cascaded into a detachable cathedral train.

For her headpiece, she chose a tiara of rhinestones with a mid-back-length veil. She carried a bouquet of white roses with greenery.

Geri Amerson of Dudley, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Diandra Coley of Newport News, Va., cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kesha Johnson and Chicquita Isler of LaGrange, cousins of the bride, and Jessica Lewis of Seven Springs and Ashley Wallace of Greensboro, cousins of the groom.

James Amerson of Dudley was his friend’s best man. Ushers were Dante Johnson of Greenville and Eric Isler of LaGrange, friends of the groom. Groomsmen were Khiry Best of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride; Hugh Flanagan and Anthony Flanagan of Raleigh, cousins of the groom; and Swindell Isler and Clinton Reynolds of Goldsboro, friends of the groom.

Jonece Greenfield, daughter of the bride, and Awnya Greenfield, niece of the bride, were flower girls. Keshon Johnson, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.

Dr. George Hawkins and Lavon Wallace of Greenville directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Monica Coley of Atlanta, Ga. Faydra Johnson and Shoron Sutton, friends of the couple, distributed programs.

Hostesses were Katie Lewis, Sharon Sutton and Carol Sanders.

A program of wedding music was provided by Michelle C. Hobbs, friend of the couple, and Patrick Atkinson, vocalists, and Dequan Gardner, Adrian Gardner and Milton Waters Jr., friends of the couple.

After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple is residing in Goldsboro.

The bride is a 1987 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and Wayne Community College with a certificate in nursing. She is employed at Food Lion as an office assistant.

The groom graduated from Goldsboro High School i n 1989. He is employed at the Goldsboro News-Argus.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lane Tree.

On June 17, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Fletchers.

The matron of honor held a cookout June 12.

On May 17, co-workers of the bride held a bridal shower.
