PARKSTOWN — Marketa Dawn Yelverton and Marketo Terrail Hargrove of Warsaw pledged their promises June 11 at 4 p.m.

The Rev. John Elliott Jr. officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Saints Delight United Holy Church.

The bride is the daughter of James and Serail Pridgen Yelverton of LaGrange. She is the granddaughter of Louise Rouse Pridgen and the late Leslie Pridgen of LaGrange and the late Lonnie Allen of Denver, Colo.

Deborah Hargrove of Goldsboro and Randolph Newkirk of Rose Hill are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Annie Pearl Chasten and the late Rev. Odell Chasten of Warsaw and G. Lee of Rose Hill.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.

TeKeisha Ford of Durham, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Contina Broadway of Morrisville, cousin of the bride; Cheri Goosby of Wilson, Felicia Lucas of Roxboro and Chrystal McNeal of Kinston, friends of the bride; and Amber Taylor of LaGrange and Monica Yelverton of Kinston, nieces of the bride.

Russell Wilson of Turkey was his friend’s best man. Groomsmen were Edward Cromartie Jr. of Mount Olive and Roderick Mathis of Turkey, friends of the groom; Andrew Southerland of Mount Olive, friend of the couple; Bobby Tann Jr. of LaGrange, cousin of the bride; Aaron Taylor of LaGrange, nephew of the bride; and James Wendell Yelverton of LaGrange, brother of the bride.

Aliyah Davis of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Ambrose Rodriques of Kinston was ring bearer.

Raniqua Pridgen of LaGrange, niece of the bride, was the miniature bride. Omar Sheffield of Goldsboro, brother of the groom, was the miniature groom.

Honorary attendants were Cynthia Haynes of Warsaw, aunt of the groom, Angless Hodges of Turkey, friend of the groom, and Angela Taylor of LaGrange, sister of the bride.

Vernetta Smith and Gloria Posely of Goldsboro directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Sheila Davis and Kristin Alexander. Carmelina Almanzar and Tamika Williams distributed programs.

Special helpers were Ivori Hawkins and Braxton Davis.

A program of wedding music was provided by Minister Timothy Davis, pianist; Pamela Best, Pia Thompson and Charnelle Green, vocalists; and Vicki High, flutist.

After a wedding cruise to Key West, Fla., and the Bahamas, the couple is residing in LaGrange.

The bride is a graduate of North Lenoir High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is employed as a teacher at Wayne County Public Schools.

The groom graduated from James Kenan High School and Winston-Salem State University. He is employed with Wayne County Public Schools.

Following the ceremony, a cocktail hour reception was held at the church fellowship hall.

On June 10, the couple held a rehearsal dinner at Saints Delight Church.

Betty Ingram held a lingerie shower June 9 at her home in LaGrange.

On May 28, Angela Taylor held a wedding shower cookout at her home in LaGrange.

TeKeisha Ford held an around-the-clock shower May 21 in Durham.

On May 7, Irish Manuel held a miscellaneous shower May 7 at Lovick’s Chapel Church.
