Bostic - Crawford
BENSON — Nina Rae Crawford of Raleigh became the bride of Norwood Leighton Bostic of Raleigh June 11 at 4 p.m.
The Rev. Joi W. Godfrey officiated at the single-ring ceremony at Benson United Methodist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Col. Bobby R. and Linda Sasser Crawford of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Mildred Strickland Sasser and the late Hubert Eldridge Sasser of Pikeville and the late Thurman Russell and Mildred Stevens Crawford of Goldsboro.
Dr. Clifford Newberry Jr. and Helen Sorrell Bostic of Fayetteville are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Norwood Leighton and Florence Denning Sorrell, Mary Belle Wilson Bostic and the late Clifford Newberry Bostic Sr. of Benson.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory formal gown of Italian satin. The fitted strapless bodice was adorned at the waist with scalloped embroidered floral motifs embellished with crystal and pearl accents etched in gold twine. It had a trumpet skirt with matching embroidery that encircled the hemline and extended to a chapel train accented with satin-covered buttons. She also wore her maternal grandmother’s wedding band.
She carried white hydrangeas and gardenias with cascading love knots and her paternal grandmother’s medallion attached. She carried a handkerchief with her initials, a gift from her college friends.
Elizabeth B. Edwards and Michelle Crawford-Jones were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Veronica K. Aycock of Goldsboro, Kelly P. Greene of Lexington, Dr. Amanda S. Johnson, Sarah G. Wallace and Perri S. Mathews of Raleigh and Shannon M. Murrajo of Apex.
Dr. Clifford Newberry Bostic Jr. was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Brett S. Barker, Alan G. Bjorklund, Jonathan D. Hairr and C. McCrea Wallace of Raleigh, Brandon S. Baxley of Wilmington, Dr. Zachary K. Bissell of Virginia Beach, Va., Clifford N. Bostic II of Atlanta, Ga., Ron J. Carpenter of Charleston, S.C., Jeremy Edwards of Wilmington, Chuck Lee of Benson and Grant E. Sasser of Fremont.
Jessica Cannon, Hali Edwards and McKinley Sills were flower girls. W. Walker Edwards and James D. Murray IV were ring bearers.
Mary Ann Lee and Noela Woodall directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Jessica Dymmell and Kimberly Siefert. Tanya Heath and Dr. Leigha Williams distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Bess Edwards-Sawyer, organist; James Dilda and Suzanne Passow, vocalists; Doug Tart, trumpeter; and the Primavera Quartet, members of the North Carolina Symphony.
After a wedding trip to West Virginia, the couple is residing in Raleigh.
The bride is a graduate of Meredith College with a bachelor of science degree in business administrations and clothing and fashion merchandising and North Carolina State University with a master’s degree in agricultural and extension education. She attends North Carolina State University for a doctoral degree in occupational education. She is employed as an associate extension agent for 4-H youth development with the Wake County North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service.
The groom graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor of science degree in animal science. He is employed as a sales representative with Johnson and Johnson Depuy Orthopedics.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held an outdoor reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Allen Jr. Sam and Winnie Sue Sasser, uncle and aunt of the bride, poured lemonade. John and Wanda Crawford, uncle and aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake.
Mary Belle Bostic and Mary Sue Montague held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the Bostic home.
Co-workers of the bride held a miscellaneous shower.
A bachelorette party was held in Wilmington.
A bachelor party was held in Portsmouth Island.
Friends and family of the bride held a shower at Falling Creek Baptist Church of Grantham.
Friends of the groom held a party at the home of Charlie and Martha Ann Harrell of Fayetteville.
The groom’s family held a dinner at Brass Lantern of Dunn.
Elizabeth Edwards and Linda Brinkley held a bridal luncheon at Sheffields Tea Room of Wallace.
Meredith College friends held a bridal shower in Raleigh.
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hood and Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Johnson held a dinner at the Village Steakhouse at the Village Green.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Preston Woodall House.
