Sherry Michelle Lancaster of Goldsboro and Thomas P. Shelby pledged their marriage vows May 7 at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Joseph Leonard officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Goldsboro Worship Center.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Nickie D. Lancaster. She is the granddaughter the late Ralph H. and Doris Lancaster of Pikeville and the late Edna King Leopard and the late Alexander B. Hendrick of Goldsboro.

Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Shelby of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Shelby of Goldsboro and the late Mr. and Mrs. R.V. Wharton.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless formal gown of Italian silk organza with a fitted bodice embellished with pearls and sequins. The back had an oversized layered bow that flowed into a train.

For her headpiece, she chose a tiara accented with Austrian crystals, pearls and rhinestones with a two-tiered silk illusion veil with pencil edging. She carried a cascading bouquet of white Virginian and yellow roses.

Karry Trina Bradshaw of San Diego, Calif., friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Cathy Jo Myers of Benson, friend of the bride, was the bridesmaid.

Gary T. Laws was his friend’s best man. Groomsmen were Nickolas D. Lancaster, brother of the bride.

Ciera Satterfield, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.

Riley Ryan, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.

Lynne Walker and Janie Margaret Perrine directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Nicole Roche, sister of the groom.

A program of wedding music was provided by James Glenn Aycock, pianist; Kelly Nelon Clark, vocalist; and Gene Smith, sound operator.

After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, eastern Caribbean, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

The bride attends Wayne Community College and Mount Olive College. She will attend Lenoir Community College’s nursing program. She is employed as a real estate broker with Town and Country GMAC Real Estate.

The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1988 and Thomas M. Coley Law School in 1992.

Following the ceremony, Dr. and Mrs. Ed Hoeper held a reception at Walnut Creek Country Club.

The groom’s family held a rehearsal dinner May 6 at Walnut Creek Country Club.

On May 4, Naomi Billingsley, Mary Ann Williford and Carla Parks held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Goldsboro Country Club. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.

Co-workers of the bride held a miscellaneous shower May 2 at Town and Country GMAC Real Estate.

On May 1, Janie Margaret Perrine, Lynne Walker, Monica Hoeper and Cathy Howell held a bridal shower at the Howell home.

Robert and Jane Jeffreys and Sam and Frankie Korschun held an engagement party April 9 at Walnut Creek Country Club.

On Feb. 19, Phyllis Ryan held a pampered bride shower at her home.
