Davis - Bell
CALYPSO — Libbi Clark Bell of Calypso and Roger Brenton Davis Jr. exchanged promises April 8 at 7 p.m.
The Rev. Bruce and Traci Powers officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
Parents of the bride are Paulette Batts of Calypso and Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Batts of Chinquapin. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eslie Batts and Georgia Merritt of Beulaville and the late Haywood Merritt.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Roger Davis of Calypso. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Jackson of Calypso, the late Mr. and Mrs. Woodard Davis and the late Mary Grace Jackson.
Given in marriage by her family and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of ivory lace with a sweetheart necklace. The sleeveless bodice was embellished with embroidered lace over satin that extended into a Basque waistline. The back bodice featured a V-back. The A-line skirt was accented with embroidered lace over satin and cascaded into a chapel-length train with a scalloped hemline.
For her headpiece, she chose a bouquet of white roses, sweet peas and pearl accents.
Hannah Bell, daughter of the bride, was maid of honor.
Roger Davis was his son’s best man. Ushers were John Davis of Calypso, brother of the groom, and Ricky Batts Jr. of Kenansville, brother of the bride.
Robin Bell directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Jennifer Hood.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jeanie Sutton, pianist, and Robin Succi, vocalist.
After a wedding cruise to San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Marten and Nassau, the couple is residing in Calypso.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the fellowship hall.
On March 26, the groom’s family held a dinner at Texas Steakhouse.
Friends of the groom held an engagement party March 19 at the Steak Barn.
On March 19, Calypso Baptist Church held a wedding shower.
Donnie Byrd and Virginia Outlaw, aunts of the groom, held a lingerie shower March 9 at Pizza Village.
The couple held a barbecue rehearsal dinner.
