LAGRANGE — Carolyn Howard Knowles and Timmy Ray Barfield of Goldsboro pledged their wedding vows Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Jimmy Whitfield officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Fields Chapel.

Parents of the bride are the late Ralph and Marie Howard of Mount Olive. She is the granddaughter of the late Granger and Ethel Howard and the late Gordan and LuPearl Whitfield of Mount Olive.

Parents of the groom are the late Edgar Marvin Barfield and Essie Morgan Barfield of Seven Springs. He is the grandson of the late Jesse and Lizzie Barfield and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Morgan of Seven Springs.

Given in marriage and escorted by her brother, Glenn Howard, the bride wore a short-sleeved lace bodice A-line gown of ivory. It had an empire banded waistline of Georgette fabric with a detachable chapel train with rosette detailing.

For her headpiece, she chose a porceling rose flowered tiara with a chapel-length veil of illusion. She carried a bouquet of ivory silk roses.

Susie Knowles Strickland, daughter of the bride, was matron of honor.

The Rev. Randall Barfield was his brother’s best man. Ushers were Jim Rumschlag of LaGrange, Glenn Howard of Mount Olive and Randall Barfield of Goldsboro.

Morgan Dail was flower girl. Caleb Strickland, grandson of the bride, was ring bearer.

JoAnn Barfield of Goldsboro directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Ruth Holloman of Goldsboro.

A program of wedding music was provided by Bobby Howard, pianist; Jenny Heim, violinist; and the groom, vocalist.

After a wedding trip to Walt Disney World, Fla., the couple is residing in Mount Olive.

The bride is a 1975 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a graduate of Wayne Community College. She is employed in optical sales at Lenscrafters.

The groom graduated from Goldsboro High School and Pitt Community College. He served in the Marines. He is employed with Walnut Creek Police.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church fellowship hall. Attendants were Gloria Johnson and Marie O’Connor of Goldsboro and Jerri Howard of Mount Olive. Christian Barnes distributed favors.

On Feb. 21, co-workers at Lenscrafters held a shower.

A rehearsal dinner was held Feb. 11 at Sandpiper Seafood.
